I use a 8000 lb Superwinch with a regular battery on my flat deck. Works great as when towing the truck charges the battery. Make sure when you mount the winch that you off set the winch to the passenger side as your tow hook is off set.

Superwinch and Warn are both great. Installed many for customers. JUST DO NOT GO TO HARBOR FREIGHT!!!!! Total garbage, cables guaranteed to fray in first use (if it makes it that far), plus you may miss the event trying to winch car out of trailer (SLOWWWWWW). Northern Tool actually has some good prices on the Warns.
