Pure indulgence ..
I did not need it ... I do not have the skills for it ... I probably will never go to a track for quite some time .. Yet I indulged.
I gave up two air-cooled beauties to get into this .. a 2011 GT3RS with three options (radio delete, PCCB and light weight headlights). Its a my kinda RS: The color, the accents, the anorexic spec, a Porschephile owned, zero over revs and dealer backed with a CPO. I have added 1800 miles at its used exclusively as a road car for my weekly long commutes over some very scenic mountain roads with great elevations and turns. What can I say about the car that's not already been essayed.
People here are no strangers to the sensational attributes of this car. Its the amalgamation of mechanical interface, analoguesque feedback from
that thin rimmed Alcantara clad steering wheel, the short notchy throws
the traction coming out of the bends and the eagerness even at low speeds that does it for me.
I don't track the car, I don't even know the ABC's of high performance
driving but each time I get into this car, I remember why I bought it despite the fact that I did not need it. This brilliant piece of engineering marvel is so worthy of all the accolades that it has received.
Now both Porsche and I have a problem in our hands. For Porsche their 991 GT line up has some big shoes to fill in. For me, I ponder about my onerous task of driving this smashing machine yet preserving this piece of automotive art.
The interesting part is the fact that after I've driven my RS, everytime I drove the 3.2 (sold it to my friend with me being offered the first right of refusal) or the 997.2 PDK C4S, I enjoy(ed) those two cars a lot more than I would ever have if I had not driven this mighty beast. I test drove a Boxster spyder a couple of weeks ago and still have withdrawal as I enjoyed every second of that drive. This despite the mighty RS.
Not everyone needs a RS but every Porsche enthusiast should at least drive this car once in their lifetime. Now for some obligatory pictures that I shot. Those who know w00t know very well that I detail and photograph my cars way more than I drive them (my C4S bought new has 30 K miles so I am doing okay there). For some reason this time my first pictures of this car were taken just this morning several months after my purchase after motoring it for nearly 2,000 miles.

Drool....what a beauty!
I love that it doesn't have any of the unnecessary extra's like A/C, Radio or the adjustable seats. True, dedicated track beast!
Enjoy in good health.

They really are something. For such a new vehicle it has such classic traits that plays on the heart strings of even the air cooled crowd.
You also have the best options that will be the envy of others in time.

Thank you all. Afshin, it does have A/C. In fact that was a big part of why I first almost bought it sight unseen and then walked away from it from Sunset Porsche (yes the same one Paver) as the salesman told me that it did not have A/c. Car sat for a while, the manager called me back and then during the conversation it was evident that the car did have A/C. A/C is a creature comfort I cannot be without as I do fair amount of driving in Eastern WA. I did lose 10 lbs since I got the RS though

So well put and you are absolutely right. It is frighteningly old school but not many may agree with me.
