And the reason why I say that I'm going crazy is because I finally got rid of the thing that used to annoy me the most on the 3.8 engine, which is the lack of throttle response and now linear power and a little bit of jerkiness.
Now the car feel a lot better than when it first came to me. This thing pulls like a freight train, (for a 3.8RS) hopefully I'll do some rolling tests with a 996GT2 from a friend of mine over the weekend.
If I don't sell it quickly I'll just keep and get rid of the crap ... when the time comes the 4.0 will be mine and I know that.
Getting old is a good thing and is giving me a little bit more patience, which I believe to be a great virtue that I don't have much ... but I'm getting there.
Just curious what you mean by lack of throttle response and what you did to fix it?

Still FS?
Sorry car is no longer available, or accepting trades for 4.0 only.

3.8 engines are known to be lazy at low RPMs, which only affects slow street driving. My car runs catless headers and high flow exhaust, which made the lean factor in low RPMs even worse.
After re-calibrating the ECU this issue was much improved.
