Default Goodbye Premier, Hello XPel

Had a bad customer experience with Premier, gave them a chance to fix it and they didn't. As a result, I switched to XPel and couldn't be happier. The new film is crystal clear, doesn't stain and cleans much better. Will report back on long-term durability after several months and a few more track days. The Silicon Valley Ferrari dealership has switched to XPel as well and uses a different installer.

I have it on my RS and just installed on my C4S and GTI.

It will stain, you just need to pay attention to what gets on it. By far the best I have seen or used.

PLEXUS does a great job of keeping it fresh

Good luck

u have to clean all the bird **** off film immediately no matter what film you have or what your believe or what the manufacture tell you. bird **** stains, period. i have had every film under the sun.

my current car is filmed AFTER i tracked 6 days. i actually like the "rash" look. it's patina'd....

Interesting. I've used a number of different products and installers and I'm very pleased with Premier and their film protection on my current car. I was also happy with their installers. Glad you were able to find a solution for you and your car, though.

yes they all stain. Some will last longer... some dont.. it is how you maintain it but they all stain esp on White car. Expect to just replace the film at 3-4 years...
Ive seen some white cars that look pretty good after 3 years but they all stain.

Maintenance is the key....

So do you wax over the film? What all should be done to maintain?

My RS front to the doors is cleared. Not sure what brand.

Which installer did you use? I have found great results at omega werks in Pleasanton. Service was personal and that was a key factor. I found premier to be very impersonal.

I use clay occasionally and wax often. Heavy on wax before track and the car cleans up easier after.

You can definitely put wax/sealant on top of clear bra. I don't know about claying though

While it is possible to stain all films, our XPEL Ultimate film features an automotive clear coat that makes staining next to impossible.

You can see a perfect example in this video where we clean up film that was purposely parked under a tree and left unwashed for two months.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/RdT1gz...w&hl=en_US

We also have videos available showing the stain resistance to spray paint, permanent markers, motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and other items. If you do get a stubborn stain, you are able to use much harsher chemicals, like lacquer thinner on XPEL Ultimate to remove them. Most films would be destroyed by chemicals like that.

Film has come a long wa in the past few years!

Plexus is actually a very harmful product on urethane films. It contains petroleum distillates, which dry out urethane and cause it to stain easier.

You are best off using a purpose made product or a natural wax, regardless of which brabd of film you have installed on your car.

I use zaino on the clear bra. Works well. Like said, any wax, polish works well. Stay away from the edges when polishing.

Very happy with the full front/rockers XPEL on my street/track day Cayman R.
Turtle Wax Synthetic Ice Spray Detailer before track days, fast, easy, no residue (clear), rubber comes right off after, no blemishes.
edit : to specify spray detailer and not polish
