Default 997.2 GT3 RS Watkins Glen

I have a 996 GT3 and I enjoy driving the car on the track. I am an DE instructor for many clubs. My best time at the Glen is 2:12 as a reference with MPCS so I am not the faster driver.

I got a ride in a 997.2 RS and was totally blown away. Just the sound of the exhaust was intoxicating as we were leaving the hot pits. The level of grip with hoosiers was phenomenal. The driver turned early for turn 6 and I did not think we were going to make it, but with some correction and all of the curbing we were off without incident. Similar experience with turn 9. I can tell you I was very impressed with the driver and car. He had a higher risk appetite and skill than mine. I believe he was doing 2:07s without me in the car.

I got back to my car and it felt so slow. I am in total awe of the 997.2 RS and this is on my wish list.

I think there would have been a much longer description of 'corrections' and 'curbing' comments if Clarke was driving - there has to be video somewhere of Clarke and Grady jumping all the curbing through the bus stop.

He did not mention fearing for his life, spinning, offloading, one hand steering or straightening it out once either.

There should be about 30 for sale after Winterfest when TrackCar 3 waxes the field.

I wish one was within my budget. Maybe once my Apple stock goes to $1,000 (need to dream) it will be time to purchase one. Correct, it is truely in a different league and shows what 7 years of technology/engineering can do. I would put this ride along side when I was in a 996 Cup car.

Yes, there was some fear, and a lot of excitement. It was not Clarke driving, but the person was very good.
So, in the short term I will continue to enjoy my 6GT3 and new to me 2011 M3 with M-DCT 7 speed.

here is video of me and Grady at WGI in August 2012 (worst DE I have ever been to run by PCA-NE). I did a 2:05 -- skip ahead to 5:00 and then that lap starts. Yes, curb hopping is the fast way around

great to hear of your experience. I love mine, especially at the Glen. Apple stock will get there. Just waiting for one event to happen. Stick with it.

Grady, post your video of this same run. I think this is where you are cussing me for letting off at the end.
