The current crop of competition race cars have surpassed the 997 and its Mezger a few years ago...it's time for the next step from Porsche to return to it's winning ways with newer and better technology.
I see what you are saying but the 997 has won CTSCC with the 3.6 motors of the 997.1's and 996's as well. Those motor's wouldn't stand a chance in Rolex or ALMS so that's not saying much. That's not going to convince a lot of people. It has to win against cars going almost 10 seconds faster per lap, making about 100 more hp and running for 8-12 and 24 hrs.

I'm all for a lighter, more efficient motor though. The chassis is a monster it seems, all the 9A1 has to do is make the power and be reliable and it will win over everybody.

When they did the 7:40 lap it was on Pirelli PZero (crappy tires IMHO). The same car was tested on the same tires by SportAuto and turned a 7:44, now at the Hockenheim the 991S ran just 0.4 secs slower than the 997.2 GT3, with the GT3 on MPSC and the 991S on the crappy PZero.

I think that this video with the 7:37.9 must be on the MPSS, a faster tire, and MPSS are still a tad slower than MPSC.

Sadly, now I have to give point-by to the 991S in the DE Cup. It will be interesting to see these 991S running Platinum DE Cup lap times.

Ooo oo .. Tifosi giving the point by! hopefully it is not the wrong finger

All jokes aside, the 991 is bloody fast. I'm def interested in a GT2/3 in 3 to 4 years from now when all the bugs are sorted and Porsche releases the variant 991.44353453453 GT2/3

I don't care either I just want a nice strong reliable engine for the way I like to use the car.

Faster than a F430 Scud! How did that happen dear lord.

The chassis must be so good it offset any power/weight advantage the Scud had. Better shocks, dog bones, toe links, sway bars and electronics?

Really just a fun poke at Rad. In reality, the Scud has not gotten a fair shake at the ring. The time was set by Sport Auto and while their test driver is really good, he's still slower than a factory test driver, and Ferrari seems uninterested in ring times with their waiting lists to buy their cars.

But the Scud is faster than that time represents.

No this is going to fuel Rad's fire and preaching to us that his F430 Fiat Scud now only has 300hp.

Hi All, Here is some comparison data for you: I am a member of AMP and Run my 991S there. I just started doing track days this year and have about 20 hours total track time (17 @ AMP and 3 @ RRR and VIR) I'm running low 1:33 at AMP while the fastest GT3/RS are running 28- 29 on R compounds. My car is totally stock, except R6s, and I run it in full auto in "sport plus". I think I can get into the high 31s by year end. I'll be 71 yrs. old in Dec. The 991 is a great car! Allan
