What stage/level were over revs? If only 1's and 2's then no problem. If 3's then you are SOL.

For far less money than $70k you could have a 4.0L built... Hell I have 2 3.6L GT3 engines that could be used as donors we could start with and get new cam decks/ exhaust actuators etc...

And for the record all the information I've seen from cars that failed and big engine builds points to a harmonic. Thus far, engines that should have failed or have demonstrated a propensity to failure (stroked 4.0L and greater) are not with appropriate harmonic dampening.

We've been working on the 997.2 GT3 dampener for a while. 997.1 is available but only necessary if you're doing a stroked build. A lot of curve ***** but we have it together and available. Shoot me an email if any questions.

Default 4.0 campaign-resonance tube replacement!

I was at the P dealer yesterday and had them run my VIN on my 4.0 to see if any campaigns were out there to be addressed. Yes, WC51-Replace resonance tube! This may have been addressed many times over by now but I'm new to the 4.0 club. The mechanic said it is a pretty big job. Can someone explain to me what this means, the P guy was somewhat vague when I was questioning him. Much appreciation, and Love the 4.0

The resonance tube replacement was less than a full day job on my car. The engine does not have to come out, they just drop it down a bit to replace the resonance tube (~air intake manifold)

no biggie.
the rod through the intake flap has two screws on it. they will fail and get sucked into engine kaboom.

this recall takes the WHOLE resonance tube and replace it. the new tube come with rod, screw and butterfly all assembled in factory

One more GT3 motor bites the dust due to a cam actuator failure....fellas get your bolts checked out. It was on a NB 3.8 GT3, but it had the 4.0 clutch/LWFW. Bolts backed out on exhaust cam, killed 2 exhaust valves, camshaft, and bearing mounts. BIG bucks to fix.

4 more harmonic dampeners in stock before we have to reorder for the 997.2 GT3. After talking to the owner of the latest failure. I would push to include actuator updates to the latest part number (ends in .93) and a harmonic dampener.

consider it not an if it will back out, but a when, kinda like coolant fittings, some will go the life of the car and not have troubles, most will not...

Jamie, can you provide the part names and part numbers that you recommend replacing with getting your harmonic dampener installed?

The latest version of the intake cam actuators are 997.105.051.93
The latest version of the exhaust cam actuators are 997.105.053.93

You'll need 2 of each...

Correction: I don't have the info at my fingertips, but pretty sure that while left and right intake actuators are the same part number, there are different part numbers for the left and right exhaust actuators.

Anybody know specifically what Porsche did different with the .93 parts? What makes them stand up to the harmonics better with respect to bolts backing out that loc tite would not do? I understand the harmonics affect other things besides cam adjuster bolts but they seem to be the things that are most common as they back out.
