Default GT3 LSD ECU Issue

Hi fellow Rennlisters,

I was at Buttonwillow this weekend and tried out my newly rebuilt LSD from Guard. During my first morning session, I had turned off the SC on the 997.2 GT3 and for some reason the traction control turned back on while I was driving on the warm up lap. This roughly happened 4-5 times before the ECU rebooted while I was on the track.

The dashboard turned black and then all the lights turned back on, the LCD/GPS screen came up with the Porsche Logo. After I came off the track, the gas was showing "empty" although I had a full tank before going to the track.

During the second session, the same thing had happened. I turned off SC and then it turned back on - happened 4-5 times. The ECU rebooted again while I was on the track.

After a frustrating morning, I headed to lunch and fueled the car back to full; the gas gauge was working properly again. In the afternoon, the issues had stopped. Everything seemed back to normal. On a side note, the newly rebuilt LSD was awesome when it didn't conflict with the ECU.

I am wondering if any other GT3 owners have had this issue with rebuilt LSDs or if anybody has any ideas why this may be happening. Thanks.

def not lsd, as lsd is a mechanical part and you had an electronic/electric issue

it didn't happen all at the same time. it happened over a 20 minute session. i had turned off the SC in the beginning and going around the 2nd turn the computer had turned SC back on. I turned it off and ran maybe roughly a lap and then the computer turned back on the SC.

This happened 4-5x in roughly 6 laps and then the ECU rebooted.

I generally do not in principle give opinions unless I know the answer from experience. That said, I have a Guard LSD in my mk1 (non SC car), but I have also fitted a Guard in an older Audi with SC.

You are not going to like this, but it sounds like you have electrical issues - I do not believe (strongly) that it is the LSD and electrical issues suck to find so I don't really know what to say other than good luck.

There are too many people on here with modified (Guard or cup shim stacks) that haven't reported similar issues so if this is coincidental with the Guard install it sounds like something else happened or was about to happen.

Good luck

+1, the electrical failure description (especially the dashboard full off), loose ground cable at body or battery, or even a defective battery.
