Two other CGTs sold in Vancouver have seen track time at least at Mission. Never had a chance to put R-compounds on the CGT. On PS2s, it felt like it had SO much more to give,... bucket list note: buy used CGT, put R-compounds and leave it in FL. (Peter, maybe ditch your 4.0 and GT2RS efforts,... lol)

woshimihei - can you catch that CGT in your RS yet?

CGT is the ultimate Porsche. Period.

Back to 918, I don't see the need for a hybrid high performance sports car. Sure, technology is cool, but it's a huge compromise for ultimate performance. I'm with Savyboy on this one.

Is CGT going to be the trend of the week on this board? Quick everyone, sell your GT3s and buy CGTs.

All jokes aside, I think CGTs on track are more of an anomaly than rule. But who knows, maybe theres some secret, private track only billionaires know about? Maybe they do a CGT DE CUP? Anyways, its above my pay grade.

As I understand it, that is his mechanic's trailer
The last time I saw him he had his cgt and 3.8 RS at ORP with us last year
Very nice guy but left early and his mechanic did most of the cgt driving

So, are people tracking CGTs with better rubber either on the stock wheels or aftermarket (whatever actually has tire sizes available)?
I saw one at Barber a couple of year ago. Had pirelli slicks on it. Think I have a picture laying around somewhere. It was driven decently fast, 1:36's I think I timed it at. The exhaust sound was pure MAGIC though (stock). I think I recall the guy putting it in the kitty litter and getting rock chips all over it.

Porsche doesn't produce any videos and has been alleged that they use segment times or TBL. I have yet to see a Porsche lap time that has an exact time. All of them can't be 7.XX.00. There has to be some fractions of a second in there somewhere.

The ones you find on the internet are usually done by Sport Auto, not by Porsche themselves. You also need to add 7s to those times.

Interesting read:

I saw a cgt driven very, very quickly a few years ago at VIR on Mich slicks on re-valved shocks - car was regularly tracked by the owner. I have never in my life seen any production car on a track that looked as awesome and as composed at speed as that car. It was a true sight to behold - braking speed into #14 was 180mph - the sound of the thing was unworldly. There were 100+ porsches at the event and everyone, and I mean everyone, stopped and watched that thing lap. Had a friend at the event who lapped his 996gt3 at the time at 2:10s who asked for and got a ride - came out of the car in total and complete disbelief. I have no idea of the times he was doing but it was way faster than 2:10s.

I think someone should set up one with slicks and see what is possible at the N-Ring - my guess is that it would be sub 7:10.

One day, I hope to own one and compete in the Stock DE Cup Class at Sebring - bring all the 4.0RS or GT2RS's you want - a CGT setup well will destroy them all.

I was also on track with another CGT at Tremblant - well known car to the folks up there - elder gent, great guy, used as his regular DE car - he drives it at DE pace not going for any records. That car has such presence on the track there is no better word to describe it other than predator - if you have never seen one on track, or even better to have had one come up on you in your mirrors - you are missing the treat of a lifetime.

One last thing, again it is really hard to explain until you have seen it with your own eyes, the car at speed on the track has a 'composure' unlike any 911 - it doesn't wiggle around - it looks like it is being sucked into the track - that to me was the thing I remember the most - it's presence and composure.

I have also been told by a pro who has driven one, and I believe Walter Rohrl has a similar type quote, that no one has enough seat time in one to truly understand how to tweak the setup to make it 'better' at the limit - i.e. a true track setup - that would give a guy, even like Rohl, 100% confidence that he could go 100% - the car simply doesn't have enough hours on the track - I think Rohrl's quote about this was when he did the N-Ring time in the GT2RS - for him he could take the GT2RS to the limit and have 100% confidence in what was going to happen - there are not enough CGTs to put into the guard rail to dial it in the last 3% to see how low it can go.

I've only ridden in one for 10 minutes on the street, up to 150mph and a few slow corners, but as soonnasmyou plant your *** in the seat you know it's special. When it starts you are sold, when is startsnhoingbthrough gears you know you must have one, one day....

7:14 is a joke for this self proclaimed most tech advanced supercar.
But its all irrelevant as i dont see too many owners tracking their $1mm museum pieces.

The bigger joke will be when the 991new gt rs puts down a sub 7 min lap.

will never happen.
sub 7 is race car domain only - car will need deviated stitching, torque vectoring, pdk, traction control on to do it...
