Dream Drive: Großglockner

Dream Drive: Großglockner
I was planning a driving route from Bavaria to Lake Garda in Northern Italy and back to Bavaria and came across this article: http://www.virginmedia.com/motoring/...ves.php?ssid=5
and thought it might be worth pursuing---it was. The pictures I've attached once again don't do the road justice so I've attached the web site to get a better idea:
http://www.grossglockner.at/en/
The road started out with the first picture of my car and within a half hour I was looking at waterfalls and then snow. A half hour or so later, I was surrounded by lush, alpine vegetation all over again. I used 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears too many times to count going up and down this mountain, what a great drive. If you are ever planning a driving tour around Europe put this on the list!

I assume you have your original CL's set up with track rubber for track events at the Ring and others?
Cheers!

Hey Doug,
That was the original plan and maybe at some point I will still deposit the second set with Manthey for that very purpose. However, when I shipped the car over it was on a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. This is my first set and I had no idea what a great tire it was until I started driving it. It is perfect IMO for driving to and from the track and when the rain inevitably comes they track so well in the wet. Since I have no trailer here, I think this will be the program for me going forward. The price on used OEM rims here is outrageous.......maybe I'll sell them.

+1 on both the Grossglockner and Tourist Delivery. Enjoyed all the pics you guys posted; brought back great memories. I picked up my Carrera S using TD in '09 and did the Grossglockner. A must do. Amazingly I have no pics of the car on the route so threw in one from the next day. Thanks for posting the thread.
