Thanks Nick (and others for input).

Coming from you, as GT2 owner, think your assessment of price might be very realistic! look at this 2011 very low miles GT2 RS on Ebay. Asking $195, and willing to entertain offers!

An offer was made for the brownish GT2, 170miles: $135 (as per price range referred to in your quote above).

Rejected!

Then that owner is fishing for a whale.

Don't be the whale.

Did he bother with a counter offer?

$135k is fair, and realistic. If you wanted to insult him you could have started at $120k...

If 190k is high, then the asking price on this one is a pipe dream...

2011 GT2RS is a whole other price level.
They are selling in the low 200's all day with low milage.

Have the owner take it to a dealer and ask what he would be offered on a trade. Might wake him up.

A few months ago the local dealer paid $125k for a low-mileage 997 GT2. They were asking $145k for it, not sure what it sold for. Based on that, I'd say your offer was spot on.

And those in the know realize the RS is not worth a $50K+ premium over the GT2, if you're going to actually drive it and not bubblewrap it.

Cars depreciate. Nature of the beast. Don't buy cars for investments. That's what land is for.

I would say $135k for a brown GT2 with low mileage is a very, very fair offer, especially if it stickered with low option cost added on. If it had $20K+ in options then I might add about $5-10k depending on options, but you said it stickered @ $195K which is pretty much no options.

seller will regret not closing a deal with you at or near your offer... most GT2s are waiting for the "right" buyer... and for this car, with your offer, in my mind you are/were the right buyer.
On top of that, the rare color can limit the number of qualified offers...
A year from now he will likely sell it for less than your offer.

just my opinion...

Note that the ebay car has WPOZZZ VIN number...indicating a non-US car (although location is listed as US)...Canada ? Grey market ?

Something VERY fishy here: Euro spec seats, OE Clubsport roll bar, Euro BUMPERS and plate holders. Some weird bolsters (Euro spec?) on the doors. No option spec list in ad. And owner has no idea how to run his anti-sub belts

Someone local go over and see if it has plastic rear and side windows???

I call BS on this ad.
