I think it has more to do with the idea that the more hours you go from the event (over-rev) without something breaking, the less likely that there was damage in the first place.
My car was raced and had zero over-revs until a douche instructor at Boundrant blew a downshift and gave my car a couple Type 2's.

Type 2 is nothing

My car had 52,000 type 1s, but I think that it has to do with ECU tuning and removing (or moving) the red line or something.
Anyway, better an honest "know-what-you-get" car than one that looks too good to be true. Original track patina is better than a possibly re-sprayed hypocrite.

If you don't track this precision tool for the track, what is the point of having a GT3
Who cares about over revs, the engine is built to withstand so much more than a bouncing rev limiter.....a hit for track use? , I think you hit your head......

Much as I respect many of the posters and their views in this thread, I think quantifying the resale difference between a tracked and untracked car is more mental masturbation than science.
People buy GT3s (RS'es in particular) to track. And unlike a girl, there isn't a "seal" that you can inspect per se to establish provenance. In my book, these cars are all priced with the assumption that they've seen track use. It's just a matter of condition.
Those who advertise untracked GT3s for sale gets all sorts of red flags in my book. It's like advertising a virgin in a brothel. It just doesn't fly.

Not positive, but if over revs get zeroed, the operating hrs also gets zeroed.
The red flag would be a "mileage to operating hour" ratio..
So, if your car has zero over revs but has averaged 300mph over it's operating hrs, something may be amiss
