The ZL1 VS GT500 will be hot this summer, both car are great !
ZL1 better overall car, GT500 better hooligan![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The big dilemma is : are you gonna chicken out and buy the ZL1 because you think the GT500 is too badass for you.
Still at gt500 price you can get a base M3 ...

This was my 2011 with 550HP.
I still have the 2013 GT500 on order for me through my dealership, although I will most likely pass on it due to the crappy year I'm having..
They are BIG cars compared to a 911. In the garage it looked comical sitting next to my 993..But, it had instant power, great sound and loads of power.
Its just not a Porsche, and bottom line is, I'm a Porsche driver and I would rather own a 07-08 GT3 than just about any car out there at the moment.
Someday soon I'll have my GT3

The Camaro is just plain better looking (more sleek) and a better overall package (handling) IMO. I like the nastiness of the GT500, but it's just semantics and chest beating if the car can't put the power down.
However I have a more at ease feeling with the Ford GT based GT500 motor than I do any LS motor from GM.

As far as LS engines go however, they are bullet proof and enjoy modifiications.
The Ford modular engines are complex and have had their issues with increased hp modifications.

Actually, the Camaro has more blind spots than stevie wonder and the engine is right out of the Cadillac CTSv. They should have installed the Z06 427 to be a true ZL1 tribute.

LS motors bulletproof? Absolutely positively not. The C6 is one of the worst LS motors ever. The LS3's are blowing up left and right if driven hard. I think they fixed it somewhat with the grandsport, but bulletproof is not at all a good way to describe them. The LS7 isn't far behind, lots of Z06, even stock, but especially modded going boom. There are several threads about these issues on Corvette Forum. The stock LS6 from the C5 Z06 is still the most reliable motor that GM has built.
However I will say that I have not heard of any issues with the CTS-V motors or the LS9 from the ZR-1, so that is a plus. Much more so than an LS7 IMO. But I have had my own personal issues with LS motors, so I'm still skeptical.

Still like the old Germany ad the best:
Car and Driver had identicle lap times for ZL1 and GT500. Straight-line, Gt500 got to 150 over four seconds faster than ZL1:

considering none of these cars are track cars, I think daily the gt500 will be more fun to drive if the roads are good condition in your area. That is the only way I can choose in between those two ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I had lots of fun in the Challenger SRT8, the Camaro V8 was better car but the big engine is what bring the memory smiles.

Camaro has limited visibility. Looks are subjective.
Talked with the owner of the 13 GT500 we sold last week, and he is concerned about the opening in the grill. It lets everything in and can cause the engine to run hot if it becomes blocked. Nobody is sure that a mesh piece will cause overheating at this point.
He says its far and away a better GT500 than the 11 he had. As always it seems, when you talk to a guy about his mustang, it becomes all about HP and TQ and what his old mustang had in it and how fast he goes..Blah Blah Blah
