Default UHaul car trailer with a gt3 - any experience?

Has anyone used a UHaul car trailer to tow a gt3?

Is there anything about the trailer that doesn't work with a gt3?

Yep plenty of experience. Make sure u got long enuf plank woods to load car and take off your lip spoiler. Also u need plywood in front maybe 2 inches thick 8 inches wide 6-8 long to clear the metal stop or else u scrape your front bumper(your tires should touch the metal very stop) . The front straps(make sure they are not ripped when u inspect) are ratchet type so u loop around the front wheel and feed back into ratchet and ratchet it in. There's only a chain in the back so loop over your main chassis(there's no eye bolts to ratchet in extra pair of rear tie downs). Placing dovetail onto tow truck is same for every other dovetail. The driver side fender does fold down but be careful when opening or u dent door. I always have nose forward ie I never backed into it. Good luck.

Thank you

So I should go to Home Depot and cut some 2x8s to place under the front wheels to raise up the front so that without the front splitter the car is raised up enough to clear the front metal sections on the UHaul trailer?

What do you mean by chain in the back loop over your main chassis? I'm a towing newbie. What exactly do you mean by main chassis?

Much appreciated.

If you have not seen the U-Haul loading video, here is the link. It is helpful, but you may need to modify it depending on tire width and size. All in all, it gives a good initial look at the basics.

That's a great video - thank you

So, with a GT3, I'm assuming I need 2x8s below the front wheels to clear the UHaul front metal lip and also under the loading ramps to create the proper loading angle?

Thanks

Once u see chain u have an idea where u loop it underneath your car. Your front tires need to touch metal stop up front. Your lip spoiler won't clear even if u place 2 inch thick wood. Point is u dont want your bumper scrapping either when tires touch metal stop.

The steel ramps that come with uhaul are too steep so u need to make it less steep. Race ramps with uhaul ramps works perfect to load car. Mike

I meant uhaul ramps are too short so angle very steep.
Also u better have someone guide your car in on the ramps since u can easily have one side of tires not totally on ramp but sticking out. Don't ask me y I know. Mike

i wouldn't put anything valuable on a rusted u haul trailer or truck, let alone a gt3.

if you care about your car, don't do it.

get the car shipped properly or at least go with a penske. if you don't have towing experience, it can be dangerous driving with a heavy load.

Sorry. We don't rent Trailex. People can be very hard on rental equipment.

u can do it. but as 996flt6 has done many times. it's a pain, in fact i rather just die then getting anything from uhaul. when 996glt6 gets his uhaul to track he's so tired he does 2 sessions and then just eat up all my food. u need a REAL trailer
