Can you provide the price, source, and part numbers for me (and others)?

Thank you Sir!

Just did my 2010 at Goldcrest with 3.88 RS r&p. Also did the Motorsport LSD and RS 4.0 clutch and flywheel. Haven't been on the track with this set up yet, but it feels much quicker on the butt dyno!

Thank you for the info Mvez!

Sure it's on the high side for sure, but it is certainly worth doing if one has already dropped the engine/trans for a clutch and/or coolant fitting repair.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions.

Cheers!

From a non track driving perspective there are 2 big changes:
1) 2nd gear as you know is a very long gear and you can use it to drive around the city and almost never change gears - this changes - 2nd gear now goes by much faster - this was my first big impression driving the car
2) cruising on the highway at 75mph you are distinctly higher in the rpm range - with the Cup R&P (4.0 or 8/32nds) this happens just as the exhaust valve is opening / closing / opening - so if you want the car to be quieter for cruising, you need to pick the speed to keep it closed - the 3.89 RS vs the 4.0 Cup will make this less of an issue as the speed will be higher

From a track driving perspective there are a few 'changes'
- every track is different so it may or may not be more or less optimal
- the biggest benefit, if you are willing to use it, is the slow second gear corner 45mph corner where you are accelerating out now higher in the rpm band - this can be worth 1/2 to 1 car length gap on a car that is at 3000rpm when the cup 4.0 is at 4500rpms (guess but you get the idea)
- the other big issue is that you will get into 5th and 6th gear in certain tracks - you thus have to get use to shifting from 5th or 6th into other gears (sounds stupid but you don't want to money shift the car and old habits need to be unlearned)
- there is no magic, changing the R&P is not like adding HP, so to get the benefit, you have to use, if the track gearing allows it, the optimal rpms of the engine - if you like driving around the track and just keep the car in 4th gear there will be no difference

Congrats and subscribed. After driving my first RS both the R&P and LWFW are on my radar.

Triode,

On a GT3 would regearing the gearbox be not that much more $ and more effective?
+1 on the Sharky! I think there are some used ones laying around.

Quit making me think more about it....LOL.

It would be more ideal, but long-term, if I decide to go back to stock gearing, or sell the car, or both, it makes it easier to deal with. The 3.89 isn't super short, and I think the .2RS gearing is pretty darn good, and plenty wide enough for a range of tracks. You don't hear many .2RS owners complaining about their gearing.

I run 18" stock diameter tires, so I don't get any lower gearing effects, so for my 2 home tracks, Mid-Ohio and Putnam, it will be virtually spot-on.
