Default Steering Wheel Shakes on Freeway

Wanted to get some feedback from others, I get a noticable steer wheel shake when driving on certain sections of freeway in SoCal, if I'm not holding the wheel its shakes back and forth slightly, and less so if I'm holding the wheel. It happens on the same stretch of freeway, which is nearby my home, so everytime I drive the car I'm worried there's something wrong. On smother surfaces, like a nice asphalt street at similar speeds I don't notice it.

2011 GT3RS

Overall, just wanted to confirm whether others have experienced wheel shake on freeway groove lines and a confirmation of the sensitive steering of the GT3.

Thanks!

Wheels out of balance likely culprit ie sticky tires rotating over rim. Very noticeable on street. Seeing thru rearview mirror -can swear I have massaging seats. Mike

Move, to Florida, flat, no steering wheel shaking. RS is fine, SoCal not that much.

almost certainly wheel balance is off

could be tire is out of round, has flat spot or other

steering wheel shakes = front wheels
booty shaking = rear wheels

i have 2011 GT3 RS as well on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups...Same issue with one set of tires/wheels. I re-balanced the front wheels. Issue mitigated a bit. Rebalanced the rear-wheels and it was mitigated some more. Maybe one of the tires isn't truly round.

On the track I don't notice it.

As long as the car still tracks straight, I'd just get your wheels rebalanced and take it from there.

Sometimes it will shake if you have tire build up from the track still on the tires. They don't get hot enough for the rubber to melt off like they do on track.

If it's smooth on asphalt, and shakes on the concrete expansion joint crap we have here, might not be wheel balancing.

I highly recommend having your tires balanced using a Road Force balance, makes a big difference.

yeah that's a great point. the two rebalanced fixed a lot of it. tracks totally straight. just a little wiggle, which is probably from all the rubber build up
