With that logic I fully expect to see your AC removed and carpeting gone.

Yeah, on the "base" Turbo. Not on the GT2 RS, or the Turbo S, though.

A must else dash looks empty and plain. This isn't a pro race car. It is a street car endorsed by our respective wallets and not corporate sponsors so things like color and options matter. This is a vain bunch of rowdy dudes just like the Carrera forum though rarely acknowledged. Keke

There is *** white......then all other useless colors......the ones that cost money are even more useless

Options are a waste of money, if they make someone feel better thats good, they will never bring resale to a car.

i think we all understand that the most vocal folks here think it makes the dashboard look dumb. great. so that's what it looks like. the question was really more: what does it actually do? what's the function?

i thought the sport/chrono package added the stopwatch, lap information on the PCM and more aggressive engine mapping (whatever the hell that is). is this not the case for the GT3? is it really just a $700 stopwatch?

It's way worse than a $700 stopwatch. It's a $700 faux stopwatch permanently on display atop your dashboard. Every time you have to explain it to someone you will feel/look like a douche.

Jeremy Clarkson said it best about the stupid chrono wart: "Imagine explaining THAT to your girlfriend. What a tool... you'll look."

I say all this as someone who back in 2006 got suckered into specc'ing it on a new car. It's a complete waste. The only time it's OK to order this option is when Porsche marketing forces you to by bundling it with some unrelated REAL function as they did on the 997 turbo's overboost ... even then be prepared to sacrifice your dignity.

Ask me how I really feel.
