If I could figure out a way to knock off 50lbs behind the rear too I would absolutely consider a lightweight battery, but as it is there's already too much mass behind the axles...

Well haven't you already lost some going from 3.6 to 3.8L? Thinner cylinder liners

Haha! But I have bigger turbos! Unless I find some negative mass exhausts I'm SOL...

Are you in HK now?

CRex,

The lighter weight is due to more customized parts on the VPR line (the enclosure, etc), and some internal parts being different. The VPR line is geared towards professional racing teams and users who want the lightest possible weight. For example, the VPR-S30 and VPR-S40 has more capacity/power than most people need, but professional racing teams want extra capacity/power. The VPR-S30/S40 is also a commonly sized battery used in professional racing.

Ultimately it is up to you to decide if it is worth it. Yes I agree there is not much difference in 1 pound between the VPH750 and VPR-P6, but the VPR-P6 has more power/capacity also.

Yes J-hooks are a simple but effective mounting method! The Rennline mount definitely looks better though, and is probably more bulletproof. - Tony

Check your alternators boys... Mine was weak according to my mm, so I took it in for an official check. Dealer is replacing it under warranty.

VPH_Tony, good news is mine's running at 14.2 at idle (12.6 off) ... so I'm in
For a VPH750 w protection circuit and remote off (and those j-bars if u stock EM pls)

do you suggest the 11.5 or 12.5v cutout level for a 90-10 track-road car?

Common problem the VR goes bad and voltage drops. Glad you are getting warranty. In the future just pull thd Alt and change the regulator costs about $50.

vph_Tony:

A few more questions for you:

A) Is your VPR-Remote Pushbutton Harness* 1) just recommended or b) 'necessary & essential' in the installation of any of your batteries re: this Group buy?

*Remote Pushbutton Harness allows the battery to be turned on and off remotely via a wired pushbutton. Sealed IP67 pushbutton is mounted via a lightweigh, tough, 8 foot high temperature wire to a plug that connects to the battery.

B) Just to confirm, the VPR-Remote works with & is totally compatible with VPH750 battery, correct?

C) Does the Remote pushbutton harness* [VPR-REMOTE] at $36.95 come with the Group Buy special pricing or is it extra? And if the latter, do you have a special pricing for that (e.g. 20% discount) if the Group Buy reaches 8 or more orders?
https://p10.secure.hostingprod.com/@...roducts_id=134

D) The VPH750 will NOT work (fit correctly) with a Rennline Mount kit:
http://www.rennline.com/Lightweight-...nfo/EL36V3.38/
So you DO NOT recommend it for your VPH750 battery.

But the VPH750 will work with the Tomioka hooks/bolt kit:
http://www.machauto.com/batteries-ac...ks-bolts-6-7/8
This is the one you recommend for the VPH750 battery.

I am also glad to see that there are at least three Spyder/Cayman R owners on your 'in' list already!

Saludos,
Eduardo

Hi Eduardo,

A. It is optional. Recommended only if you plan on turning the battery on/off every so often, and don't want to access the battery every time.

B. Yes compatible with VPH and VPR batteries.

C. No it's not part of the group buy, but we can apply the same discount level to the harness.

D. I haven't personally tried those 10" J-hooks with various Porsche models, but some users have with success, so I don't see any reason they wouldn't work, but we can't guarantee it as we haven't tried those J-hooks ourselves. Yes, the Rennline kit won't work with the VPH750/VPH900.

deputydog95, glad to hear it's being replaced under warranty! - Tony

Tony:

Thanks for doing this group buy...
I'm in for a 750 12.5v, this puts us at the 20% discount!

CPO for the win. Bad things happen when I do anything beyond changing wheels and pads
