Clarke, I won't attempt to speak for Dez. However, it seems to me the issue time & again is safety, especially in light of some of the videos that end up here. For sure, you guys are mostly blessed with decent car control. However, one day PSM won't overcome the immutable laws of physics, and something big will happen...which may end Super Solo for all of us.

It is where the hobby with friends ends and the D-BAG Cup begins

John, very nice to meet you at Barber! I hope your long drive to Chicago was uneventful.

There are a couple of relly nice ones available. IMO prices have stabilized & are beginning to go up, as demand even for 6 cups seems to be slowly rising. And anecdotal evidence among my clientele bears this out.

the price on 6 cups will go up, as they are factory race cars.... the history repets over and over again.

When you're running a CUP in DE environment, you better be the fastest out there, otherwise you will never hear the end of it.
I'll be the first one to aim that goal, and make sure it happens. Even if it costs a 4.2 or a set of turbos on a GT2.
Ah, A/C will be on too.

There is a lot of exaggeration in this thread. DE Cup is a group of friends who have fun. Machul was nice enough to make a cool logo/skull for our group, so if that bothers people, then look away I guess. I trust the guys around me, and feel that we drive in DE's safely. As Deputy pointed out, could ease off a bit running so close, but other than that, there is nothing we do wrong.

I'm sorry but lots of over driving is not safe. Neither is two DE cup guys bumper to bumper trying to pass two other cars race style in turn 11 at road Atlanta and both going down the hill in the grass nearly hitting each other. And then post it and laugh at it.

I have hundreds of laps at Road Atlanta and wouldn't have tried that. And its obvious neither of them new the track well enough to even attempt that by the end result. How exactly is that safe?

I'm just saying you guys need to dial it back some, or go racing.

If I get 996 cup it's only to race. Only time I would DE it would be for a shakedown to get use to the car

Agreed. Kind of silly to bring a Cup car to a DE. I am a big fan of the Spec996 platform, and they can be raced competitively + they are not 100% overkill for a DE.
