Default Tires

My rears Pirelli Corsas need replacement after 4 track days and a total of 6500 miles on the car. Fronts look like they have held up. I was planning on replacing the rears only, and buying a second set of rims/tires for the track (OZ and Toyo Proxies).

For street use are RE11 worth it or is it better to stick with the Corsas? Opinions would be helpful.

RE11s are nice tires but you could compromise the street handling with 2 types on opposing axles. How about just get rear Corsas and make them your track tires (on the OZs) and get a set of MPSS or other nice street tires (on the stock rims) for street use. Just an idea.

Thanks...sorry I meant replace the rears or get RE11 on all fours.

MPSS for stock rims might be a nice option..... I hadnt given that much thought ....

My vote is for the SuperSports. Great tire that provides near Corsa performance.

...and, yeah - nice car

If you've got enough life in the fronts to see through a second set of rears, I would just replace with Corsas... If the fronts are fairly toasted too, then you could do the RE11... Cheap and effective for the street. A number of guys here have used them....

I like the performance of sport cups better than super sports, BUT I can't burn off my super sports, I've had them for 10 months with over 20-25 track days!! I think super sports are financially the best decision you could make with near performance characteristics of sport cups and corsas (I had the oem corsas first and like the sport cups better).

Yah, your car is kinda nice...

I was in the same boat you were-6000 miles, original rear corsas shot. I went with re-11's all way around for about the same money as just replacing the two rears with the Pirellis.
I am happy with them. And, btw, nice car.

Afridi, please give me a call. I'd be happy to help to get you hooked up on both tires and wheels.

I was in the same boat as you. I had a little over 7k on my Corsas and after 2 times at the track the rears were shot. I kept the fronts but had a new set of MPSS put on.

I'm going to get track wheels and will put the old front Corsas on them, along with 2 new rears. After the Corsas are shot, then who knows. I'm waiting to see how the new Trofeos are when they come out.

I ran RE11's with my 7.2 GT3 and enjoyed them for value. Just got MPSS for DD and took it transformed the car. It turns and puts power down now (OEM were MPS1s). Took it on the track and would say it's more communicative at the limit than the RE11s. Would have gone MPSS on the GT3 if I kept it. Both are great tires in the wet.

I ordered a set of MPSS for daily driving.

Got the OZ's with Toyos (and regret that a bit in hindsight). Will keep the front Corsas for now and add a set of rears and flog that on track when the Toyos are done.

BTW can you flip the Toyos R to L when tread is gone like one could with RA1s?
