Don't hate me, I got a GTR

I disagree that the rear-engine is a 'flaw'. that's just silly, there are distinct advantages to the rear engine design, which is why it's persisted for so long. If you look at the weight distribution of open-wheel racers, for instance, it is heavily canted to the rear. The rear-engine layout offers immense traction out of corners, so you can get on the throttle earlier. The braking is excellent as the weight transfer weights the front, but not overly so the brakes don't have to work as hard. The steering has excellent feel because the front has less inertia. Obviously the polar moment of inertia is higher with a rear engine, but Porsche has engineered the car to be progressive at the limit. Porsche engineers aren't stupid to persist with a design for 60 years if it were 'flawed'. The GT-R, while a great car, isn't a lightweight sports car like a GT3. A GT3 can be hammered on endlessly because of it's high-strength racing componentery, and that's what costs money. A GT3 makes Porsche very little profit margin compared to some of their other cars; that's one of the primary reasons they're ditching the Mezger engines.

Have a GT3 and until recently, also had a GTR.
The GTR is a great car. I DD'd for 15 months. It was very stiff when new, but after a few thousand miles, it did become more supple on the road. Bottom line, it was great fun and fast as hell.
It can be a good track car with a few mods. Needs additional cooling for trans and motor.
But in the end, I like the GT3 more.

If you love the GTR because it has AWD, 4 seats and an auto-tranny, I have the solution.
Buy an used 997TT with an auto tranny (Mercedes Auto or Audi DSG), add 400 lbs of lead everywhere, and drive it in Reverse, it will drive like a Nissan GTR but look vastly better, for the same money.
This thread made me cause a hit on the nissan website, wow! the wording on that site has its unique demographics. Anyway, a GTR costs close to $120k, that money buys nice cars off of a showroom, that money buys even nicer used sport cars (real sport cars, not a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe turbocharged).

NJ-GT...First off, whatever dealer is trying to sell a GTR almost 13-14K over the GTR Black Edition and over 20K over the GTR Premium you should avoid at all costs.
Secondly...Senna...I can't believe this thread is still going on too...I think the OP already left and got tired of pretty much the same jokes about the GTR that were said on page 1.
That said...everybody enjoy your rides in good health.

"absolutely DOMINATED Formula1 for the past 20 years" ?? - maybe you should look at the stats a little better. Ignorance is an ugly thing. Meathead.
