Default Harris on the New Boxster

Nice roads.....

Some interesting commentary re: the 991. Deeply respect the fact that he has no reservations about calling crap crap where warranted...ebrake..cough....

thanks for posting this review. Looks decent Id have to admit. not sure I would drive one but It does look like the boxter has come a long way. I think we will see many more improvements in this car over the next 5 years and it may turn into a very popular car over time but im not sure if its quite there yet. I do however really feel like this car is on its way to something very interesting.

He really rips on the 991, constant jabs throughout the review.

I really like the 981 but not enough to trade my Spyder for one. I think the Spyder is a keeper and a 997 GT3 will need to be added to the stable in the future.

The Spyder is unique but generally speaking the new Boxster looks great!

Too bad they had to ruin this one too by installing the safety-oriented-self-correcting-speed-sensitive-torque-adjusted-pulse-emitting-electromechanical-nanny® steering.

Harris was (again) brilliant. He can successfully describe a new car in under 3 minutes, when most people in his business need 3 hours to find an adjective.

i like it too. i reckon the new interior suits it well, whereas it looks wrong in the 991.
the 991 is like going to a church designed by hadid.
even though i'm not a massive church-goer by any means, tradition still dictates what it should look like inside, icons and all.

Not a fan of the interior (of the 981 or the 991).

However, I think the new 981 is really well done! Love the 20`` wheels and the guards red.

best journalist in the business, bar none. can we have him take over top gear? or create his own 1 hour show? I'm damn sure he won't try to 'race' a car against the postal service or something...

"Is Porsche guilty of creating a stability system you can't completely turn off?"

Yes, yes, they probably are, they've done it only 2 generations ago. I hate that.

I think this new boxster looks very cool & will be even better in the flesh.
The driving dynamics appear to be even better & let's face it, Chris Harris knows a thing or two about cars; if he says it's good, chances are it is.

I think Chris made an excellent point of the new electric steering -- on damp roads.

If I understand his comment correctly -- When driving on damp roads, that's when we'd want to feel every bit of the raw tugs & shakes from the steering wheel connected to the road surface, and the new electric steering - for the better or worse - might mask out that steering-road feel Porsche cars were famous about.

I have yet driven the new 991/981 on damp roads, yet I would take Chris' words for it.

Regards,

I got the play by play from Dan who was watching that on his pc this morning. Star in a reasonably priced car perhaps? Very mr2ish and I dig.

I think it looks nice... Gotta admit the mid engine gives it a lot better control. Would I buy one, I will probably never buy a boxster as long as the 911 and the cayman exist....... But I sure as hell give this one the respect it deserves.

Spyder > 981
That car is just beautiful. Looks like nothing else.
