Does anyone have a working Solo DL on a 997.2 RS? I know OBDII won't work. if it does it is through CAN BUS.

I have seen that orthojoe installed one on a .2 GT3 but i don't know if the computer is the same as in the RS (I imagine it is)

I also read that Porro has one on his 4.0

I want to pull the trigger on one, just want to confim that it works

I think we need confirmation that the RS ECU is the exact same as the standard GT3. Savyboy has told me that the RS ECU is a Bosch unit. Maybe PM him for confirmation?

 

There is a guy here posting as jp175 and uses a Solo DL in a 4.0RS

 

I'll keep to the facts at this moment based on my 2011 GT3RS:

1. The "Bosch" setting does NOT work for my SoloDL.

2. My SmartyCam ECU bridge configured as Siemens EDI 3.1 works fine in the same vehicle. Through the same wiretap.

3. The Siemens setup does NOT work for my SoloDL either.

 

Both my smart cam and solo DL are at Aim Systems receiving proper firmware updates. My issues:

1. Smarty Cam has huge static
2. My Solo DL can not Sync with Smarty Cam nor DL gps work when connected to Smarty
3. Smarty Cam had old firmware update
4. Solo DL came with some bugs and to downgrade firmware update to older version.

I did get OBDII to work using one of the generic options so I did get some data and times at Winterfest and the 48. So far it has been frustrating! I could have some more valuable data and great video like when I was just hanging on Peter's bumper and he started to overdrive; GT3DE's many spins right in front of me; Grady giving me a point-bye then shutting the door......wild stuff!

Aim systems called me today. they fixed bug in my DL. However, to fix Smarty Cam bug they had to ship to Italy

Nice!! What did they have to do? A simple firmware update, or something more complex?

 

So does anyone have a solo DL working on a .2 RS? I am having trouble with mine popping "system fault" messages and reading RPM. Solo is configured as a Porsche 997_987_MKII_OBDII.

I just had the front control module on the car replaced because the shop's diagnostics said there were communication errors between the ECU on the front control module.

I'm pretty sure they are going to blame the Solo next time....I'll have to remove it before I drop the car off.

 

I've gotten mine to work. Via an ECU CANBUS tap and Siemens EDI in RaceStudio.

It wasn't an easy path to get here mainly because there was hardware fault with my particular unit. AIM helped me diagnose that and sent me a replacement. Great service by the US team. Since then everything has worked as advertised.

 

Sounds like the same issue as Juan had.
I want to buy one but I'm not sold. Traqmate I understand finally but the hardware is crap. I don't think they can make the hardware, cables and support any ****tier if they tried. Made in America unfortunately.

We are fine tuning it on eddies car if we can get it to work I will buy one with a Smartycam. At least the hardware and connections are solid.
Juan came by trying to help, I think Eddie go5 it to work yesterday but invested many hours.
No obd2 oil temps and other goodies that should be available from obd2. They wrote full software for also Italian rarely trackedvfiats but not for the most tracked car on earth the gt3..

Forget plug and play. The first guy to make a data video system that truly works right will cash in big.. Kris?

I figure if someone grabs the gt3 market they have 25% of the DE market right at the get go, seems like an x million dollar market.
Sebring event is coming up only 8 days! No data but my coach is bringing VBox

After that it looks like Traqmate again only because I know it and VBox also requires splicing cables and complicated setups and software :-(

 

Race Keeper odbII gives you all sorts of info on temps, g loads, engine loads, fuel and oil levels, obdII speed, GPS speed and I forget the other things. Race Keeper is easy to use too.

 

Doh - I kinda got the impression this was plug and play. I hope Peter K. can come up with a solution, or I'll need to switch to a different system.
