I did a few 1:34.5 on Sunday on older MPSC (had to take the Hoosiers off on Sat due to a 3" split on the inside). Traqmate says TBL of 1:33 ish. Oh, I also did a few 32s, but that was from the right seat of Peter's car

TDM, here is one of Peter's vids where we caught up to you at around the 4:30' mark. Peter, hope you don't mind me posting?

I just looked at the data when we were nose to tail.....mostly mid 1:32's
It is (or should be), every time trial I've done has been <.08 of a second using the AMB transponder, and that's on the high end using Traqmates auto stored start/finish and not setting my own at the S/F. It's even lower then. Has been that way since I've had it. Barber, CMP, Road A, never off by over a tenth and usually within a couple of hundredths. Probably 20+ events, hundreds of laps I can pull up my data and find the times on AMP and they are nearly identical.

Clean Lap at Calabogie with Bruce Gregory driving my 996. He knows the track, he is one of the owner and is doing the GT3 challange in a 997 cup so i do think it is a good starting point

Enjoy

Sly had at least a 1.34 Iphone time - no idea if she recorded a faster time eventually. I don't time myself, but followed her that session. The next session I used the Porsche Timer to self time (brutal accuracy I know), but I had it at 1.338 - which is at least close to what the IPhone said the session before - so basically 1.34. That was on Hoosiers R6s and a 997mk1 with a 4.0R&P, weighing 3140# with 1/4 tank of gas, rear monoballs and 620/900 springs on re-valved OE shocks. If I had to guess, I would say Mosport's back straight + front straight gives the 3.8 engine a 1 second advantage. When I watch Peter's video of the 1.31 his speed in the corners and trackout in my head equates properly with the other 2 seconds difference.

I also know that I hit my rev limiter in 4th gear at the top of #4 each lap before touching the brakes which is 124mph (using data you posted years ago on the 997mk1 with a 4.0 r&p) and I hit the rev limiter 2 times in 5th before hitting the brakes in #8 (and that was by getting a tow down the back straight behind a 3.8 and then very late braking) - the 124mph and 151mph is consistent with the data shown by Peter and Randy on those corners and when I was discussing with Michael his data from his 1.32x laps.

Just getting back to Atlanta after 11 days on Mancation. What a trip. Thanks to all that showed such hospitality along the way, especially, Dan in Wisconsin and our French Canadian Connection - Francois & Marc! All went above the call to make us feel "at home". While I definitely am not in the league with Randy, Peter & Mike, and Clark; my times progressively got better and by the end, really felt the car coming to me.

My best and final lap time was a 1:33.4 (Harry's Lap Timer) at Mosport which I am very pleased with. That's with a stock GT3 on Michelin Sport Cups with 13 heat cycles on them. Came home with a smile on my face.

Once again, thanks to everyone that made the trip worthwhile. Hope I can return the favor if you ever come through Atlanta!

Glad you made it back Lewis - nice meeting you and thanks for teching the car - hope you made it to the airport on time for your wife.

Lewis is a great driver and was just as fast in the corners on MPSCs as I was on Hoosiers - doesn't say much for me - I could only gap him in 5a / 5b which i contribute to the R6s better braking into 5a.

Lewis, Sly and I were the slow crew at the event but we had our little beginner run group which was fun.

I thought I was doing well at just below 1.34 until I saw Clarke drive - and Micheal, and Peter and Randy and, and, and

Back to the day job

Does your car have non-stock gearing? I see that 5th gear was used before turn 5.. !

4.0 R&P (depending on the likely rear tire)
- redline in 4th gear is 122-124mph versus stock 147mph
- redline in 5th gear is 148-151mph versus 173mph

Yeah, that makes sense.. because I only went up to 4th there.. so either you guys were going MUCH faster than me or the gearing wasn't stock..

I did a 1:32.2 following you around for more then a lap, so your lap must be close.

GT3 was much faster out of it.

Peter, I just looked at the video posted above by FFaust and there definitely is a difference between us out of 5b. I would love to see what was going on there by looking at our traqmate files. I see you went through that in 3rd where I was in second and twice you seemed to motion that I was pulling away from you and maybe this is by being in second over third. I am surprised that my car can pull away from your car on that back straight. I would figure your gearing and whatnot would help you there, but maybe the additional aero holds you back, or maybe I just get a slightly better jump out of 5b?

I'll pm you my email address to share TM files if that's ok with you. Do you know which session you were following me and we did the 1:32:xx?

^ Yes on the gearing and all.

Exit out of 5B is extremely important in order to do a good pull on the back straight. Peter was mostly in 3rd. I do ok out of there (as does Marc), hence Randy's comments about not pulling us in in our 996s. Oops, did I just give it away

I lift between 5A and B to swing the back around to line up for the exit. Then it's flat-out.
