Interesting. I wonder what percentage discrepancy that is?

Those are real lap times.

Clarke's 600 lbs heavier and less powerful car with low Aero can't touch Cup cars, but an iPhone can be deceiving.

R6 give a 1.5 secs advantage, and slicks a 3 secs advantage at a 90 secs track over shaved Vintage RA1.

Trakcar 1.1 did a 1:31 (1:30.999), so a 1:28 is feasible on slicks with his super modified 997 GT3 RS 3.8.

Standard GT3 is heavier, weaker, and slower, and Clarke's car is near stock, so it might run 1:29s on slicks.

The iPhone is erratic with no percentage range. The last time I was at Sebring, Clarke's iphone posted a 4:00 minutes lap and I know he was faster than that.

Racing is for masochists. Beer drinkers always win their DE.

Clarke passed me, 1:27 seemed realistic to me, incredible speed difference in corners. No lift VS me braking into and through corners. But due to POS timing setup,we will never know.

It can be accurate if setup right or several secs off.

Yup we will never know. 3.8 on slicks no problem 3 seconds faster than my 1:3096

I hope I have time to post some video of cars running behind each other, 3.8 non RS was much better geared in some places where Mike GT3Rx left me on the back straight and out of T3 when I ran a 1:322 behind him.

Marc, Louise and François were wonderful hosts. looking forward to more adventures together and being able to host them at Winterfest.

I was watching the battle in turns #2, #3, #4 - and later in turn #8 &#9 - trust me, Clarke's numbers are 'real' (exact is debatable but definitely in the correct range) - he was blowing by and gapping cars doing 1:32s when he got use to the slicks.

In terms of aero / hp / weight advantage - I don't think it is that real between Peter & Randy's car and Clarke / Sly's car for the weekend. Randy and Peter probably have 40#s of Clarke and Clarke's car has gmg 200cell headers which, would really help down the long back straight at Mosport - slight gearing advantage to the RS cars - but those high flow cats would help at very high rpms and the slightly less down force also helps on the long straight.

If you saw what I saw, you would not doubt the 1:27.x - Clarke was insane

Hey Gents,

This is spectacularly awesome entertainment for a Monday morning......beats the crap out of Speed channel re-runs!!!!

Looks like everyone had an absolute blast. Mosport is technically my home track, but I only ever had the pleasure of one track weekend there when I was invited to instruct at a BMW club event, and one other time for a special one day Porsche World Tour event. I moved west long before I got into DE and track events.....perhaps one day I will get a chance to drive it in my own GT3. ...........Hmmmm, better put that in the bucket list.

TRAKCAR - nice smooth driving Peter!
GT3DE - Clarke, the gas pedal is the one on the right and the BRAKE is in the middle, ......very nice save all the same!

Randy and Francois, do you gents have any in car video?

Cheers!
Doug N.

i like how peter leaves some time on the table - it is very responsible driving, and plenty fast enough.

be careful, guys!

I've compared iPhone (Harry's Lap Timer) against my Race Keeper and have not found it to be off by that much. There were a few 10th's difference here and there but not 2 seconds. Also the Greek did a compare too and did not find much of any difference.

This is normal with GPS products. The GPS speedo and the GPC Chartplotter with speed on my boat show the same thing...a 10th here and there.

It was off by a couple of seconds at Road America.
We will manually time Clarke to confirm the laps once he posts his flatout laps
