Default Non-RS GT3 Track Tires?

What size track tires can I run on 2010 non-RS GT3 wheels--i.e. 8.5x19 fronts and 12x19 rears? I have been running stock sized Corsas and PSCs to track and at track, but am likely going trailer route and can now get dedicated track tires. Anyone else running non-RS GT3 and what do you use?

I have cross listed in tire section.

I run stock 235/305 combo on the track. Have not seen any data (and I've asked) if running 245's up front really make a difference. I've got to believe that with a proper corner balance and alignment, that we are getting about as much performance out of the car as Porsche intended, without other TSB updates/mods.

I've seen other tire width applications for the WB GT's, and I'm sure there are other opinions...

Great color choice on your GT3, by the way

If by trailer you mean Hoosiers, then 235/315 in 19s works nicely. The 235 front is a wide 235 - i.e. a 250 and fits perfectly on a 8.5" rim. The 315 is a true 315 and works without pulling fenders on narrow body GT3s. The balance f/r of the car with these tires is very neutral - the added front grip of the R6 over stock tires makes the car truly a joy to drive.

Hoosier R6 is most widely used if you trailer.

Think ill be moving up to 245/315/18's when I order my next set of Toyo R888. 19" has more tire selection. In 18's you really only have RA1 (if you can find) r888, and hoosier r6.

R888 are no good, louder, less grip and last no longer than R6.

What series in the Hoosiers? I see there is an R6 in 315/30 for the rear, but for the front are you running a 35 series, i.e. I can find a 235/35--is that it?

I use Hoosier R6, 315/30/19 in rear and 235/35/19 in front. When I don't trailer (since 2 tracks are withing 45 minutes of my house) I use MPSC 305/30 and 235/35 in dry and same sizes of Super Sports in wet.

pretty sure a michelin slick would work... although I am warning you... it is uncut pure 100% heroin

I went thru a lot of hossiers before I tried the mich slick... and yes they are more money... but i only get 10-15 days to play and I want to rock out with .... out on those few days. Well that and my local group keeps getting so much faster that I need all the help I can get to stay or be on the DE podium :-)

3rd is still podium beeotch

In my class (street legal, full interior, pump gas) I could fall down and still be there... at least historically... 1:48 at orp is hard earned in a street car.

Are the other two truly street legal? Maybe, but are they used on the street? We need to have a DD class, that way I stand a chance.

I wish I had more choices, but its either that or R6's and I'm not up to R6 level yet. Maybe if the RA1 demand hadn't been met in one day..

Agree with hoosier r6 if trailering
235/35/19f
315/30/19r

R888 can be driven on the road but are loud and can heat cycle out on you

I have NEVER heard (or seen data to support that statement) that the R888 is HC'd out at the same pace as a R6. The R6 is a softer compound and will cycle out much faster. I have run both (in addition to NT01's and Yok slicks) and the R888 lasts longer (similar to the NT01). Some of y'all are confusing grip with "HC'd out".

The R6 is virtually done where there is a noticeable drop off (i.e., HC'd out after ~ 16HC's or roughly 2 weekends)

The R888 is 2-3x that life at 4-6 events. The R888, while not up to the R6 crack pipe standards, drops off from that initial grip after the first couple HC"s and then is consistent through the end of it's life.
