Opinion needed: 08 GT2 or 10/11 GT3 RS
The title kind of says it all. The dollars are similar. Found a highly optioned 08 GT2 with 9K miles for about the same money as a highly optioned 11 GT3 RS with 1,800 miles.
What are your recommendations? Any problems with the GT2? The car will be mostly street with about 10-20% DE track time.
Thanks,
Mark

No problems exclusive to GT2s. Same Mezger engine.

Tough, and highly personal. Maybe the GT2 if 80% street...
I don't think that it's really relevant, but the GT2 might take a bit more of a hit depreciation-wise.
For MY use, I would go with the RS, but the GT2, for me, is and will remain an itch that needs to be scratched sooner or later. It's a halo car.

I own both a 997gt2 with 600hp and a .2 GT3 both are great cars
Few have owned and lived with both.. and drove them back to back at the track
The GT2 is a faster track car and it is more drivable and better for daily use period!
The GT2 has already taken its deprication hit..
The only aspect that the GT3 is better is the sound and throtle response...
But on the other hand ,, after 1 warmup lap my left foot keeps trembeling whenever im on the throttle in the GT2... The limits are higher than the GT3s.. the way it gobles up the tarmac and picks up speed at corner exit is unbeleivable.. Which is more challenging = More fun to me as i exlpore these limits at stupid speeds which keeps adrenelin pumping after the track day...
At the end this is just my opinion..
The best is try both
I would always go for the GT2...

Interesting.
The RS is newer.
The GT2 is faster.
Both cars make me nervous when i see them pull up to a track day....
You are going to need to drive both.
If you are a more of a track day kinda guy or "driver" you will want to get the RS.

Thanks for the help - ahh, I think. Sounds like a coin toss from most of you guys. Still leaning toward the RS, but for some reason I started checking the GT-2s for sale. After all this is a GT2/GT3 site.
At this time, I have no freakin clue. I will post (of course with pics), when I buy one.
Thanks,
Mark

I have both. 08 GT2 with 3k miles and a 11rs with 5500 miles.
Mainly street, hands down the the GT2. What a blast, great date night car.
Mainly track hands down the GT3 RS, you get a lot of looks but that is because no one can hear themselves think when you go by.
Take the center lock question into account as well.
1 car, the GT2 would be my choice. Good deals out there right now or a 07/08 rs. Some good deals there too.
Good luck
