Are the angled exhaust tips because they test how loud exhausts are on the passenger side of the cars?

They are simply to reduce the measured sound at Laguna Seca. I have a failed exhaust valve (normally you can wired the valves closed (always route through side mufflers) with the failure and my center muffler bypass it was too loud (even with short shifting), so we actually added the tips that day between sessions.
