Hey folks,
Mean while back at the farm.....Uncle Jessie.............................
I have a 996 01 and 2007 997.1 GT3. In the 996 Carrera the windows can be opened and closed with the key in the door by turning forward and back. Not so in the GT3. Any thoughts? Is this a setting the dealership has to activate? In the trailer the door cannot be opened so I have to climb out of the window Dukes of Hazard Style. It would be nice to be able to shut the window with the key from the outside and reopen later.
Thanks!!
Tim

It is something that the dealer can program but it seems that most don't know how to do it. A number of Cayman owners have had it done but a far larger number has been told it's not possible. The steps are listed here:

Edit:
One more thing. Changing those parameters can also be done with a Durametric Professional version. Instructions for that are here:

That's crazy! My pickup truck and my 11-year old 911 will allow a window to be raised or lowered with the key but a $90 4-year old 911 does not have that without jumping through hoops!!!

Okay, just walked in from my garage. I have my 996 and 997 side-by-side. The 996 windows go down when the key is turned in the door and close when the key is turned in the opposite direction.
997, nothing happens at all.
