Sorry for the newbie question- how do you take the carpeted panel off?

there are 3 screws going into the fuse box, you will see them right after you take off outer fuse box cover panel.
undo those 3 screws and whole carpeted panel comes off forward, pull at lower right edge.
those cars are marvels to work with, everything is very easy, just do not force it.

if anybody will get DL installed on CAN bus pls report here if it wakes up in your car after you lock it or close/open doors when ignition is switched off.
I am really curious if it is common for any 997 car or it is related to mods4cars box i have in my car.

hey Paul - is your install going well? Sort out that 'wake up' issue?

wake up issue does not bother me as unit then goes to sleep after 5 min timeout.
i think they will address it in the subsequent firmware update.
here is one more thread about this unit:

The SoloDL does NOT work for the 997.2 GT3RS. See my post here.

Have been banging my head for the past six months and incurred $150 in shipping charges alone shipping this darn thing back and forth to determine if there's a problem. Apparently it works on a friggin Fiat Ducato my not our cars.

I'm very tempted to put it under my 325 rears and turn it into a plastic pancake. Then FINALLY I may get some gratification out of that piece of merde italiana

My Solo DL and new gen SmartyCam have been sitting in unopened boxes for more than a month. I was looking for a portable system that I could move in between the Coxster and Fiat.

I will post my impressions, but so far it looks promising.

AiM has great support, as long as your vendor is willing to work with them to fix minor bugs.

Send a PM to Slow-Juan (JP175), he is running an AiM Solo DL in his 4.0RS.

I installed the Solo DL through the CAN line on my spyder this past weekend. Install was easy and it picked all of the channels advertised with the exception of gear position. I switched to calculated gear and now it has everything you need. I have rpm, tps, brake pressure, gear position, steering wheel angle, oil temp, oil pressure, ect, and more. I love it so far. I'm taking it to the track on march 17th.

I'm supposed to help my friend install his Solo DL through the CAN line on his 997.2 GT3 this weekend. I'll report back when we're done.

Lol. Only a handful of those channels will be useful for actual analysis in RS2 in terms of improving lap times. However, it will be great for making trackvision videos and keeping an eye on temps/pressures.

You can also log wheel speed for EACH wheel, which can be useful for seeing where you start locking up the wheels

All porsche ECUs provide gear number but it is visible only when car runs - ecu computes it from ratio between speed and rpm. I went over that topic when I tried to get it via odb2 but it is simply not there and brake pedal position is not there. Over direct can connection it should work on any car if you can see speed and rpm.
