Default I have some ideas for cheap aero upgrades

Thoughts?

I was looking at the following three pieces:

Dive planes: http://www.sierracomposites.com/SC-A...-p/scgt3dp.htm

They have mini planes too: http://www.sierracomposites.com/SC-A...p/scgt3dpm.htm

Wheel lip spoilers: http://www.sierracomposites.com/SC-A...p/scgtwwls.htm

And a gurney lip for the top of the stock rear spoiler. 1/2 inch x 48 inches and trimmed to fit and held in place with 3m tape.

Seems like an inexpensive way to improve without spending much money and probably looking cool too since the parts are all carbon.

Thoughts? See any issues?

All of these parts look like they may give an unfair advantage

Sounds like an endorsement for the purchase then coming from you?

Should a gurney lip be .5" tall or 1" tall?

And would you go with the bigger dive planes or the minis?

I would just do cup lip and gurney flap. Unless you like the rest for looks.

Already got the cup lip. I thought the carbon planes and carbon fender covers would look cool.

What sizes planes do you think would be appropriate? The minis seem comparable to the factory 4.0 ones, but the bigger ones look like they will actually work.

And how tall should the gurney lip be? They have 90 degree carbon strips that are 1/2 tall and 1" tall? Does the 1" sound like a bit much?

I use Porsche factory parts.....not cheating but a TSB

you need a curved gurney to match the wing, the Siera Composites is flat

http://gmgracing.com/porsche_aero.shtml

Get the 15, from GMG

I woudnt mess with bolt on aftermarket dive planes......if you do get the big ones

None of your suspension bits are made by porsche. Neither is the gurney lip out back. I'm sure there's more I'm leaving off but I'm a little hungover today. I would be willing to wager if I looked under the bonnet there's some shenanigans there too.

I know the "looking cool" part is all you actually care about because I hope you don't think these are anti-spin devices....! However these could help balance out the aero on your little trailer. ;-)

i second cup lip, as of gurney flap - it is up to you. do you really run on tracks where you need a lot of downforce to improve lap times?
i would not try to reinvent the bycicle here - porsche motorsports already developed very good aero package for cup cars, just use it if you feel a need for it and your car can benefit from it.

Bishops bend at Sebring , turn 17 and turn 1

All high speed turns where the *** of a aero beetle wants to change places with the front

I gurney helps

Also turn 9 at roebling

I'm not sure how much the front dice planes help

I don't know how much the gurney flap will help with a .1. Our wings are not that big and I don't know if you already maxed out the angle on it. I'm not sure it will make much difference.

You have to go fast to spin. It'll happen to you eventually

Yes, I have max angle. Because it is smaller, all the more reason to add a little something there. As Randy mentioned, T1, BB, and T17 could all benefit from a little more pressure out back.

I already have the cup lip. But I only did that because it A) looks cool and B) doesn't tear apart like rigid stock lip. The aero is a nice benefit though
