Not sure about the 997 gt3's but the 996 versions had no undercoating. So if ever you drive where there is any salt used on roads it could be bad news. Otherwise try tirerack for ideas. Good luck.

oh. they do salt the roads here. So it'll corrode the undercarraige?
No experience with salted roads....formally from tropical climate.

RS has no factory undercoating.

Salt roads will eat the car.

Find a beater for the winter.

Car was originally from FL!!
So looks like a lotus exiga (fiberglass) or NSX (aluminium) would be ideal for winter

Also thinking of replacing factory tires with the Yoko AD08 for summer which I am familiar with track chracteristics and wet weather performance (lots of rain here). Heard the factory tires are great in dry but treacherous in wet (highway puddles)

Keep it here in Florida, hit a few tracks and ship it in March instead :-)
I sold the MPSC new off my car after a drive in a T storm.
The Supersport Michelins should be available in the next few months in RS size, that is what I am waiting for, they are great in the rain and still offer up good grip and durability.

Thanks Peter, will check those out.

Are there any known issues with the car that needs fixing other than th CL issue and replacement of rear sway bar mounts?

Early '10 cars trans cooler valve, yes my rear sway bar mount broke also and the pressure plate and clutch fails if tracked hard and often.

pzull: if you are in the Pacific Northwet (Seattle) talk with Cantrell or Fordahl. Collin is in Kirkland and Gregg in Bellevue. Nobody knows GT3 better.

Aluminum does not do well with salt either.

993 C4S is a perfect wet weather car and works well in the snow if you head east

Prefer 964 to 993 as real last of true old school 911. I find the 993 just a little feminine exteriorly but just my opinion. A properly modded 964 will better a stock 993 for same money or less. But i've been there and dont wanna go back. Guess i'll just settle for skiing and riding for winter speed thrills.

Had both the 964 C4 Cab and the 993 C4S and the 964 was superior in deep snow than the 993 C4S. I once drove the C4 964 Cab (Blizzarts tires) through three feet blizzard 12 miles to work in Baltimore and drove home that night too. Took 2 hours each way though and that right-turn at Charles St. & Cold Spring Lane required getting out with the shovel. Sold the 964 at 80k miles and still have the 993 at 170k miles.
