I had both in the last RS (cup and OEM). Felt a little more precise with the cup cables, but not so much on the track. Shifting is the worst thing about the latest GT cars. Always notchy and numb feeling.

We learn stuff every day, huh....
I went from a 997 with sport shifter, to a 997 GT3 and honestly thought they had a similar feel and throw.

I then swapped in a 996 Cup transmission last season and the feel was about the same, maybe a little notchier on the shift points.

Drove a 996 C2 and the gears shifts felt like I was rowing a boat in comparison...

My 997.1 had a notchy shifter, never liked. The 996 GT3 and Cayman shifter is softer, not notchy but precise and safe. The 997.1 GT3 is prone to money shifts (the upshift at 8400 rpm from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th).
