3.9 is a 500Hp GT3, that's the number the GT3 needs. 3.8 is just 435Hp, just a little more than the 2007 car at 415Hp.
997.1 RS with a 3.9, that's perfect, only a 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 would be better, but at twice the cost.

The Sharkster just upgraded.
What happened to his Green 7.1RS with 3.9?
Maybe he has too many cars and you don't need to wait for the build.

Hey Rich......it's been a while!
Wait another month or so and we will have our 4.0 upgrade in a GT3RS that was sent to us from Miami......we plan to bring it down to the 48 Hours of Sebring PCA event to showcase it......plus we will compare this upgrade to a 4.0 RS that will have our GMG headers/Center Exit installed on it in the new week or 10 days.....so we will have a ton of info to help you make a decision....
Cheers,
James

[QUOTE=FFaust;9094519]... and hopefully reporting everything in these pages
That's the plan.......plus we just heavily modded a 997.1 GT3 and a 997.2 GT3 with the same upgrades which we plan to dyno on the same day and will share in the next week as well.

Candidly, I don't see the appeal of the 3.9 conversion. The same money will get you the clubsport rear cage, the GT2 sport bucket seats, a set of track wheels, and a season's worth of tires. Much better money spent, if you ask me -- both in what you get and in what you can recover on resale.
I hardly ever wish I had a little bit more power when I'm on the track and certainly don't care when I'm on the street. It's a lot of money for a marginal improvement over a car that's already got adequate power.
Now, do I crave motons and hoosiers and solid engine mounts? hell yeah. but more power? nah.

When I was talking to 911slow months ago, he mentioned that the biggest difference I would notice with the 4.0 is the low-end torque gain. "It will feel like a 996 TT at low rpm." He was right.
It would be ideal to find a grenaded engine to do this kind of conversion. All of the potentially damaged components you want to upgrade anyways, and 997.1 cases are CHEAP right now. $2400.
