2010 GT3 lithium battery option......
Was the lightweight lithium Ion battery available from the factory as an option on the 2010 GT3 ?
My GT3 came with the regular battery.
How much weight would I save ?
-----------------------------------------------
The only way I could use the lithium one was if it came as a possible option on the 10 GT3.
Thanks,
David

According to the 2010 catalog, it was an option with the introduction planned for 01/2010. Here's what the catalog said about this option:
"If that were not enough, especially for use on the racetrack, instead of the conventional battery, Porsche is offering an optional lithium-ion battery. The main advantage is a weight saving of approximately 22 lb."

Stock battery just died. Time to put in a new one.
Is the 22lbs saved over the weight of a stock battery ? Or another lightweight option ?
So what I would like to know is if we are talking about the battery on the Suncoast Porsche site----cost like 2750 or 2850, and this weight savings over 2010 stock model 22lbs ?
But the 2011 GT3 came with a lightweight option no charge, but I am pretty sure this wasn't the lithium ion one.
More info anybody.
Thanks,
David

Check out aftermarket options, I run a Lithium Pros L925 battery and at a fraction of the cost of the OEM version is works great and saves a ton of weight. I've been testing it in my street car for over 8 months and had nothing but great results no matter what hte scenerio.

David,
All these options are in the Window sticker
- The Li-Ion was an option.
- PCCB were an option
- The carbon 997 GT2 seats were an option
- AC delete was an option
- Sunroof delete was standard
- Radio delete was an option
Properly configured, a 2010 GT3 can be 100 lbs lighter than a 996 GT3 just using the factory options, plus aftermarket wheels and cat-back exhaust.
The Green stuff is in the Fiat, the Yellow stuff is in the Coxster, the Black stuff was in the Coxster, and the Red stuff was in the Fiat

Ok, you're right Rad...
Think I am going to skip the lith ion batt, and replace with the same stock fitment.
Do you think they will prorate the battery at champion ? Car 10 GT3 purchased 3/10.
PS.....I took top pax at gulfcoast, and beat my buddy Hector in my car by like .3. Also won $20 from Craig.
PSS....car has less caster, and feels nimble and great.
PSSS...I think it's just as fast if not faster with less camber up front 2.7 now 1.8, although front tires seem to wear more on the outside shoulder than they did before.

Not stock size, but Voltphreaks also offer lithium batteries at a better price than the PM battery. There are a number of rennlisters with positive experience. I may spring for one when my optima dies. Hopefully by then, technology will bring the price down.
