My stock 10 GT3 battery 42lbs
The new replacement from Porsche 41 lbs....(that's probably the no charge lightweight battery from the sticker.....still thinking about pulling the trigger on the lithium.

Curious which mfg told you this? I have owned three Porsche OE LiON's in different cars and all were trickled when necessary by the much loved and owned CTEK charger. The control electronics are built into the battery enabling it to work with any modern charger.

I'm trying to decide myself, and have been emailing with Tony at Voltphreaks. He stated that we may have a problem on some of our cars since the output of the alternator is not high enough, and will therefor not fully charge the battery. Tony has been very generous with advise. I measure my output and it only came in at 13.6 V, which may not be enough to keep the battery fully charged. Trying to decide if I want to take the gamble. Love losing 30 lbs, but at approx $1K I'm at my limit for this mod. Not willing to pay double of that for the Porsche version

Give the guys at Lithium Pros a call. I've been running on of their batteries in my Z4M for over a year, I'm going to install one in my GT3 later today.
They did recommend not to use a trickle charger with them, but said as long as the car is driven once a month or so it shouldn't be necessary. I'll let you know more on my findings once I drive the car for a few days.

Do the Porsche lithium's have any ambient temperature restrictions?
Vaguely recollect the early Li's suffered below 45F with adequate amp flow, therein creating a prob at startup. Granted should not be a problem most of the time in S.Fl....but just something of which to be aware.
and Google is my friend...
"The lightweight battery offers a very high standard of everyday driving qualities but its starting capacity is limited at temperatures below 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C, due to its specific features. "

Hard to get kicked out when you run the show.
Stands there with a straight face "There will be no dive bombing!"
I dunno what that is, but it's no Dutch.
