My son's first autocross experience
I took my son to a local SCCA Autocross event for his first 'experience'. I'm not the smoothest nor am I the fastest (I've done it one other time in the past 8 years or so). But the expressions on his face are priceless and a memory that will last forever - both for him and for me.
To see his pure joy (maybe some nervousness) is a true gift. He's had some medical issues in the past and will have some challenges in the near future as well, so the more things like this he experiences, the happier it makes me.
He is sooooo hooked now. He stayed in for another 4 runs. Next time, I'm taking him to the local Kart track and give him a chance to drive by himself.

If it's SCCA, it's in their rules for Solo 2.
Per section 1.3.2.D.1 of the scca solo rules, as long as the passenger is 12 or older they are allowed to ride along.

D. A passenger is allowed provided he/she:
SECTION 1 — 25
1. is no younger than twelve (12) years old;
2. is in a vehicle which has passed tech inspection;
3. is wearing a properly fitted seat belt and a properly fitted helmet;
4. has completed and signed the required participant waiver(s), including
parents/guardians as appropriate.
In general, a passenger should be either a student riding with an
instructor or an instructor riding with a student during an instructional
run (as in a Solo drivers’ school). However, it should also be noted
that some Regions allow passengers in order to acquaint newcomers
with the sport. As long as the passenger meets all of the above
requirements, he/she would be allowed at Regional events where a
passenger is permitted. Passengers are not allowed during competition
runs in Divisional, National Tour, and National Solo events."
