RS 4.0 for sale ( 2 of them)? at Dealers

Burning Brakes
I picked up my 4.0 from Hennessy on August 30 @ MSRP. The two they have now were ordered near the same time as mine and speced by customers. Hennessy does NOT mark up "special cars" As far as future value is concerned - time will tell. I have had nothing but the best customer service from them.

Hey Allan, any feedback on 4.0 vs. 3.8 (and Scuderia ) ?

Asking prices are all over the place.

I would venture a guess that with Hennessy, those two are sold. My old dealer, New Country in Greenwich, had their presold GT2RS' listed the same way. I called my rep, something to do with their computer system auto loading the cars into the respective dealer's web pages. As for the one at Isringhausen, on dupont earlier in the week they showed the window sticker: I'm pretty damned sure that is MSRP for the car.

I was at Hennessy on Monday; there are at least 2 black 4.0s on the lot, one was in the back in PDI (I was told), the other was getting a clear bra in the delivery area next to a 2RS. Nice to see one in black after all the white ones pictured here.
My guess is that the alleged markups are due to the cars being used and on consignment. A regular customer orders and buys the car new, puts a few hundred miles on it, consigns it back to the dealer, then dealer and original buyer split the amount it sells over its original sale price.

my opinion...
There is no market for a $200k GT3 based on the defunct 997 chassis. PCNA is going to bring around 150 of these to U.S., and very likely many orders will be cancelled.
The 991 is around the corner and that's not going to help resale on the 997 of any type.
The worse enemy of a 4.0RS is the 3.8RS, a car that for almost half the price gives 99% of the performance. 3.8RS are selling in the $115k range currently.
My take is that in 6 months, the 4.0RS will be moving at $15k under MSRP for brand new car sitting on dealers lots, and $150k for used ones.
Car collectors don't buy brand new Porsches. The latest Porsche worth collecting is the Carrera GT.
Just 3 years ago people were paying $200k for the supposed to be exclusive 2007 GT3 RS, a car that now sells for $85k.

You might want to get your facts straight; both cars are MSRP and are sold to the original people on the list. Cars were NOT ordered by dealer for their sale but to the owners spec and, again, sold for MSRP. In fact I do believe "softarga" had his delivered today.
My understanding is that both cars were listed in inventory thus showed up as available when they were spoken for. Again, Hennessy did not sell for over MSRP and did not pull someones order to "resell" for their benefit.

A little history of what I am talking about. When the Mercedes SL55 came out an Atlanta dealer ordered a SL55, demo'd it for about 300 miles, sold it to the used car dept, and then asked a premium for the car. And this isn't the first time I know of such practices going on in the Atlanta area with any type of high end car. Also I had certain dealers in the Atlanta area ask a premium for an allocation on a 4.0.

+2 A fantastic car, but not a car to be the first owner for unless you can handle steep depreciation..History of all 997s have shown this. The 4.0 will be no different especially with soon to be 991 release even though I think it is @#$@!fugly.
