You're on to something here. Though I wonder if Polar Bear fur would be a superior source. Polar opposite of your fine Alpaca hair since bears have very course outer layers. But it must be super windy up there (55mph guest according to Wikipedia, which is about as fast as I drive). More wiki: they are "nearly invisible under infrared photography"...and their guard hair "is actually transparent."

I just got my Gopro 2 and I just realized you cannot connect the external microphone when you are using the protective case. Seems like a design flaw or am i missing something???!!!

If you cannot use the protective case then how do you mount the camera? Looks like they need to update the case

I hope it's better than the last two I bought. It is such a pain to use, I rarely use them at all.

Apparently there is a skeletal housing that has the sides cut out so you can use the cables. It is another $40 for the housing.

Perfect timing as I need my own camera instead of borrowing my buddies

Yep, that can be done. But than that case won't be waterproof anymore.

If the case is the open-back one (mine came with both) then it's not waterproof anyway! I say drill away. I've been waiting for the external mic for a couple years, as I spend most of my time in a convertible. I also like to mount the cam by the wheels etc, and the wind noise is hideous.

It comes with both backs. Which back do you use normally?

In/on the car, with high wind, the closed back. Plenty of sound comes through if you mount it near the back. Just wind noise if mounted forward. Snow Skiing, I use the open back.
