There is a bar in the for sale section advertised as a 996 bar. Part number 996.580.981.00. Is this the correct bar for my car?

I took the Porsche tequipment roll bar out of my 996 GT3 and installed it in the 2011 GT3, bolts in just find in the factory mounting points. There is one slight issue, the passenger seat won't extent fully to the rear position, short by 1/2 inch because the passenger seat touches the roll bar, very minor issue for me, there were not many passenger in the car.
PS: Not my car any more, sold it today, the new owner is very happy with the roll bar.

For harnesses, you have 2 options for sub bars to fit the sport buckets: modify 996 GT3 seat sub bars or buy the BKs. I was the first around here to get the BKs and the install is a lot easier than modifying 996 GT3's. The Bk's also come with a bracket to relocate the pressure sensor for the passenger seat so it is still functional.

Yes, the 996 Techequipe fits perfectly in a 997. The truth is a 997 is not a new car, it is just an upgraded 996 chassis. I moved mine from my 02' Carrera to my 10' GT3 with no issues. My only comment is if you buy a used one, to buy new bolts. The bolts are pretty much are a one time use item. If you try to reuse them, it typically results in cross-threading the holes. You can order new hardware from the parts department at any Porsche dealer. I ordered new hardware and the bolts are normally in the Porsche parts warehouse in Atlanta, so you can get them in a couple of days.

modifying the 996 sub bars I dont think is a very good idea, nor easy, nor very eligant, as I recall the 996 sub bars have 2 bolt holes and the Sports Buckets have a single (wider) bolt thus requiring that "you" drill out one of the holes on the 996 bars and only use that to attach ... spend the extra cash and get the B-K solution.

GMG bar is the solution to that particular problem (apparently, since I never got the bolts to attach it, and eventually sold the car and the bar before I tried it ...)
