991 gt3 and gt3 RS will get PDK after all!
I just returned from the track at Rennsport IV. At two separate talks by Porsche AG and PCNA officials at the PCA Hospitality tent, I asked about PDK in the next gt3 and gt3 RS. As you know, the press had quoted the current CEO of Porsche as saying that PDK will not be available on the next gt3/gt3 RS. Today, that was all taken back. In front of Wolfgang Porsche, Detlev von Platen and others in attendance, I asked the question of PDK on the next gt3 version. The answer I received was 'YES'. And it was made in an open forum, in front of cameras and the press.
Earlier in the day, I had asked the same question to August Achleitner, head of the 991 development project. He answered the same way. Yes, there will be a PDK in the next gt3/gt3 RS. He did mentioned they are working on a lighter version to save weight. But there will be a PDK version.

An earlier photo of August Achleitner being driven in the 991 used in the morning 991 presentation at the PCA tent at Rennsport IV. They were on their way to noon Parade laps on the circuit.
Bottom line - we are getting PDK in the next gt3!
Off to the Porsche Race Car Classic at the Quail tomorrow!

MAJOR Kudo's to you for asking this question! HA...I knew Porsche would wise up and put some version of PDK in the 991 GT3/RS.
As long as my life keeps going like it is...count me in on buying this 991 GT3 w/ PDK! AWESOME!

They pretty much have to PDK to make the 0-60 times competitive, which is still important to marketing. Everyone is going to be running sub-4.0 in the next decade, which you can never do without PDK.

is it PDK only, or there will be two versions?

Game-changer. Part of me is extremely excited, whereas another part of me knows that driving on the track just got a notch easier... So much for the fine art of heel-n-toe...
Such is progress...
Thanks for asking this questin btw. Great job.

PDK being offered is expected. Congrats Mike.
I too hope that PDK is the only transmission in order for previous manual GT3/RS to hold better value. However, I predict that manual will always be available on future GT3/RS for a while.

Pot stirrer Are you trying to turn this into a 40 page thread?
Sign me up as well for one with the cheater transmission. It's going to be fantastic. It's about time they got floppy paddles in the GT3.
Did you happen to ask if they will have center locks?

Duh! told you so
The only way of course to help lower track times in the new 991 GT3 is with PDK.
Now, i wonder what the 991 CUP will use as opposed the pain in the *** transmission it currently has?

If the new 991GT3RS with PDK is that much faster then 997.2RS on the track, would you make the move up when it arrives?
OR
if the CUP car actually has a user friendly PDK would you pass on the 991RS street car and go directly to the CUP?

I'd keep the manual RS (With upgraded pressure plate) and try to pass 991's with PDK. Just like I try to pass CUP cars now. back to being the underdog
When I get older fatter and slower but want to go for laptme being tired of being the underdog, I will get a CUP car with a 997TTS PDK Torque vectoring Huge Turbo's 800HP AWD driveline.. maybe by then they have auto line correct in the steering system as well.
Even less driving required.
Put of fresh slicks, go out and bully for 8 laps and let is cool down, get massage and cold drink..
Maybe I will have a pro do it for me so I don't get all sweaty and stuff.
