Default Two weeks out of warranty and there's oil on the floor...

Not happy. Backed it out this morning and noticed a small puddle on the floor. Poked my head underneath and there a film of oil all over the bottom.

What should I be looking for? Is this RMS? If so, this will be my second porsche with a RMS leak...

Anybody have a pic of where the RMS leaks from on a GT3 motor?

An RMS leak would begin at the front of the engine (looking underneath from the rear) where it attaches to the transmission.

Andrew,

Very likely it is RMS. I had 2 RMS leaks in the 996 GT3 and 5 more in the 997.1 GT3 RS (same engine as yours) 3 by mooty and 2 by me, the 997 required an engine rebuild.

The RMS is located where the engine meets the transmission, get it to Champion asap.

Here you go, my RMS experience:

the drip would migrate along the bottom ridge from the front of the motor to the low point, and release:

Good luck!

Everytime I pull out. I'm kind of paranoid since my last car had two RMS leaks so I'm always checking the floor.

Turns out it was "front" main seal. Go figure. The oil was rolling back along engine case due to gravity. It was so messy under there it was tough to tell initially till on the lift. Anyway, all fixed. FMS is a much simpler fix than RMS thankfully.

Suncoast Porsche had me up and running in less than 24 hours. Have to give them credit for the quick turnaround.
