Mike, all Rad is saying is that almost every track has multiple long straights, and drag racing times (terminal speeds) are a good indicator of how much Car A will gain (or lose to) Car B on each straight. For example, a really fast car like a Turbo S PDK gains so much time on a GT3 RS on the straights that it becomes very difficult to make up that time in the corners.

Rad is certainly not advocating side by side drag racing during a DE event.

12 sec car... '09 DFI PDK car runs in low 12sec - like 12.3-12.4 or so.
GT3RS stock - will not come close to high 10's. High 11's - more like it..

Interesting to watch and didn't expect the GTR to beat the 458 Italia, but it did

But will the GTR stand the abuse on a track ? Let's say 5-6 fast laps ?

It takes around 4 laps to overheat here around Sebring at summer time, and trust me I was nice to the car.
Oil and coolant were fine, but tranny fluid was going thru the roof. I let off at 250.
Wasn't driving on kill mode either.
Stock everything 2:28 being gentle to the brakes.

Actually, 5 cars on this Motor Trend test would pass the GTR on a straight or full-gas long enough section at a racetrack. If they publish the 0-60 times and the 0-130 times, you can estimate the 60-130 mph times.

60-130 is a better indicator of acceleration at speed. In this segment, the Italia, Z06, LFA, GT3 RS (gears get tighter once in 3rd gear), R8 GT would fly by the GTR.

I have to disagree. The GTR is fast it makes good power on the dyno, and NEVER comes out of boost on gear changes.
Some of them would benefit but not all of them.

Torque is almost completely irrelevant to quarter mile times. After the launch, it's pretty much entirely determined by power to weight and shift times. (torque is pretty irrelevant to the launch as well)

i've seen this happen w/ the GTR.
Still this car puts up some good #'s.
That vette is fast, as the article says, wonder what the true potential could be if not for those crappy seats.

The GT3 is old school. I kinda like that.
