There is still no more impressive car than the GT3 for day to day usability and lap time heroics in one package. Drive to Germany, lap 'ring all day with air con on, drive home, park in garage, take to work, no sweat.

Who cares......the lexus is probably like the gtr with driver aides galore. I bet you that if you remove all the computer driver aides it will be a much different story. I may order the Lexus for my mother.

Listen to this: I'm partial to V10 sound of the R8 with a GMG exhaust, which I drove last year at TMP.

Speakers On!

Enjoy the sound (s)

This month's Motor Trend is going to be epic.

Randy Pobst lapped the 2010 GT3 RS in 1:36.77. Bone stock car, that's some sick driving skills. Car weighed 3,157 lbs.

Then he takes the 400 lbs heavier LF-A (the standard $375,000 car) and beats the GT3 RS by 0.5 secs on 20" rollers with street tires. I wonder what the $445,000 LF-A Nring would do at Laguna.

The fastest production car still is the 2010 Viper ACR at 1:33.289 around Laguna Seca. The 2008 ACR lapped Laguna Seca in 1:35.117, this is the car that lapped the Nurburgring in 7:22.

I think the LF-A will be a classic car, low production and very appealing to the young generation that only buys japanese imports. 30 years from now, the $445,000 price might look cheap.

i think the LF-A has the genes to follow in the footsteps of this car:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_2000GT

look at where it is valued now. i think for the people that are willing to fork out that money now for a glorified toyota, they will not lose any money on the car if they hold it for 10 years and further. it might even go up.

for sure this car will be a collectible. the japanese love their stuff and presently this is at the pinnacle of their car manufacturing industry. look at the Ford GT (present pinnacle of american automotive engineering), it hasn't gone down in price. how about the Carrera GT (for german engineering), price has held steady. so this is how i look at this car.

Performance will increase. The question is, will that be driver rewarding? We can argue all day which is more rewarding, manual shift or PDK (and I argue PDK), but no one should argue that the continuing use of active systems in suspensions, diffs, etc... will continue to improve raw performance at a price. For me it's not so much that the car drives itself, but that it does that with a high degree of driver insulation.

Another pointless mfg bs ring thread. Sport Auto got 7:38 out of a production LFA. Until they get another production one to test and do better, it is all bs.

This sounds suspicious on its face; wouldn't the GT2RS still have superior power:weight, even over the ligtened Lexus? Is the tranny that much of an advantage?

Quick Reply: Lexus LFA beats the GT2 RS at the Nurburgring. 7:14 lap.
