.

Really glad you are enjoying the new P car. I love Ferraris too but I don't think I could ever bring myself to buying one. Especially something new(er) since there is the snooty-nest being flaunted by the manufacturer themselves. I mean just ask Mr Harris about this. Would like a 599 though but I wouldn't want to be associated with that set.[/QUOTE]

What set would that be? I own a 599. Also 11' GT3RS and 07 turbo. All 3 are very different.

Porsche's are great cars, I have owned one for more than 20 years, but it's not a Ferrari.

I do like the 599 but it is more of a GT feel than a sports car.

I know most here will say that i will be back..
I own a 2005 F430 3-pedal car that I bought new. Have to say the GT3 is probably more track appropriate, although I have done a few track days in the Ferrari and it is quite comfortable in that environment with track pads and no other mods. The short gears and terrific exhaust note set it apart from the GT3, IMO, and there is something about the whole F-car experience that is pretty special. Never experienced that in any of my P-cars. The Ferrari factory has some great experiences available for owners only.

Enjoy your Ferrari, every car guy should own one at some point in their lives.

Haven't had ownership experience of the GT3, so I can't say for sure, but comparing GPS track data from my track-ready C6 Z06 (which feels like a monster, much more torque than the F430 of course) and my F430, you can overlay their acceleration curves on top of one another and there is essentially no difference. I was kinda surprised to see that. I would be inclined to say if your GT3 is indeed faster than the 430 it is an exceptional GT3.

the only models that are quicker than gt3's on the track are the strad and scud. every 996.2 3 i've seen has been quicker than the 430. different drivers though, so can't comment too much.

If both were pro driven, I would venture to say they would probably be pretty close on the track. The biggest difference at the typical track day (I would guess) would be the GT3 driver is likely to have more track experience and more willingness to explore the limits than the Ferrari driver. I had one track day at Infineon in my 430 with an excellent driver in a Strad and it was a very close match to the 430. What the 430 lacked in grip (R compounds on the Strad, normal street rubber on the 430) it made up for with more power. Lap times were very, very close.

I don't know about track times , most likely the 997.2 GT3 is faster than F430 . But the F430 feels faster than my GT3 997.2 on the street straight line speeds. Maybe its an illusion due to the light weight flywheel which seems to rev so fast ...pretty sure the speed was there on the F430...its no slouch on the street.

Thank you. Looking forward to getting the deal done this week after the PPI checks out.

At least according to Porsche the 2010 GT3 is faster than a 997.1 Turbo between 100-200 km/h. From real life experience I can say that the F430 is not. The difference is probably small though.

If you take a quick look around for dyno reuslts of F430s and 2010 GT3s (I know, not same place, dyno and conditions, so not really comparable, but pretty much all runs I've found are pretty close) you can see that both cars seems to get results in the 390-400 whp range, and the GT3 is a few kgs lighter.

All in all, it's probably a VERY close race.

I have owned both at the same time. The 11' GT3RS is very different from an F430. I know it is subjective and I love the way the GT3RS looks and drives but it's still not a Ferrari.
