$32,000 is the lowest delta I got for 997.1 and 997.2 RS

shopping for a RS, I saw a delta of about $40k with similar mileage & optioned cars.
IMO for $30k I can make the .1RS faster and better than the .2RS 3.8 ( I wont do it though, as I already have a race car)
GUARD Cup R&P & Gears (acceleration)
BBI 3.9 upgrade (more low end torque)
RSS Monobal Suspension (better handling)
Also all the body work can be upgraded to .2 cup parts (front & rear bumper, front fenders & flares) if you LOVE the look for about $7k... so one could build a 4.0 stroker with a .1 RS (with all the above mods) for about $65k-ish and have a TRUE 4.0 RS for about the cost of a new .2 RS ($80K+$65k=$145k) and it will be a super unique car that you know no one else will have, and it will be 5 lug and be basically bulletproof engine)
But Im a modder and I like personalizing cars and giving my hard earned money to my tuner shops.
Sorry this is my dream and I hope I can build it in the next 10 years!
* Im not saying everyone should do this just this is what I would do.

I know of 4 997.2 GT3 RS sold in the $115k range in the last 3 months. Anything over that is a motivated (desperate) buyer, anything under that is a motivated seller.
The standard 997.2 GT3 is in the low 90s.
997.1 GT3 RS will be getting a nice hit in the next few months, as the 997.2 GT3 pushes it down. Personally, I think a 997.1 GT3 RS is not worth more than $80k for a pristine low miles car and $70k for a 997.1 GT3. Mid 60s is where 997.1 GT3 are moving right now, anything over that and they just sit.
On top of this, the 991 is going to push prices down even more.
The next 6 months are going to be very interesting for the GT3 market.

I know a few buyers cash in hand that lost out on cars to higher bidders at $125K in the last 4 weeks.
I'm not in the car trade, but obsessed non the less.
I think we might see a few $115K RS sales now with the 4.0 making some 3.8 traded in available.
By next spring demand will outstrip supply and the price will hold steady until the 991 GT3 arrives. Depending on that car, price will either drop or continue to hold steady for low mileage cars.
The .1 GT3 will find a bottom at mid 60's for a few years, just like the 996 GT3 has found a bottom at mid 40's(What a buy!!).
The .2 GT3 and .1RS will continue to go down a bit and will split the difference between the .1 GT3 and .2RS.
IMHO, in terms of a .2RS you could wait a year and maybe save 5K, with possibley more choice this winter and less choice after next summer, dwindeling untill the 991RS arrives.

Reter,
The 996 GT3 has actually gained value since last year ($12k up). It is more expensive today than what it was a year ago. Same thing with the Cayman S (just $5k up). All the other GT3 have been coming down.
I expect that the .2 GT3 RS to drop very little in the next 12 months, the .2 GT3 to drop a little more, the .1 GT3 RS to drop a lot, and I'm still trying to understand what's happening to the 997.1 GT3, but it is getting awfully close to the point where it will cost the same than a 996 GT3, definitely the open top (sunroof) is a big turn down for enthusiasts. Personally, I don't even considering a 997.1 GT3 for that same reason, unless I get one offered for $50k or less.
991 GT3 might be here sooner than usual, expect the prototypes to be seen at the Ring next year, and the customer cars in 18 months. Porsche is on a mission, 200,000 cars/year, they won't give up sales to help a used market recycle, they don't care about resale value anymore. Remember that collector's car launched in 2007? the GT3 RS?

I don't know whether to be happy or sad that you got that car. I was planning to check it out next week I didn't want to spend $50 to upgrade to an RS but it's the one of the last Mezger cars and I want one for keepers.
Congrats on the purchase none the less

As I was recently looking for an rs, I received half a dozen pms from sellers of 3.8 rs'.
Asking prices were 120-130...
Stickers from 140-180k...Ironically, the low /no option cars were asking the most money...I picked a well optioned/setup car, and am travelling to get it this weekend.
1/2 that contacted me were getting a 4.0, and werent going to get good money on trade...great time to buy an rs...

so, if someone sees a .1 gt3 offered for 60 and it isn't "worth it" to them... Let me know.
.1 gt3 sitting at mid 60s? Really? Where?
80 for a pristine low miles .1 RS?
ditto
if the above becomes reality within the next year or so, sweet!
I'll go shopping...

I have seen very few nice .1RS for under $90k (only ones that some some damage at some point).
I don't see the .1RS going below $75k for many years (5+) even when the 991GT3 comes out and from the sources I know.. no one on this forum will be happy the direction they are taking on the engine platform.
We are seeing the last of the breed with the .1Rs and .2RS... I think these will become the next 993S and 993 Turbo and keep there value at a bottom line.
I do see the 996/997 GT3's bottoming out at $50k as its just too much car to go below that..
but this is just 1 mans opinion.

I'm hopeful that the GT3/RS 1. & 2. hold their value due to the Metzger motor; future classic?
Apart from these forums how many do you see on a daily basis? These cars are still uncommon compared to the regular Carrera S's, etc...
But honestly once the 991GT3/RS comes out I think our cars will definately drop even more.
As far as upgrading from RS.1 to RS.2, the 2. car is better in all aspects apart from looks - in my opinion. The delta is around $30k.
Keep your RS.1; install new seats, roll cage, shorter gears, differential, muffler bypass, lighter wheels & wala....Thats my plan....

Fair deal, and that's about the real current market for the 3.8 RS. That car has been sitting there for a while.

Well, here's a REAL data point for you: I just--this week---sold my '07 GT3. White/black, low option, 4k miles. $83k to the first potential buyer I talked to. No Autotrader ad, no Internet posting with pictures, no PPI, sold to the first guy sight unseen..$83k.
