Hello - Just bought a 2007 GT3 (16k miles). Just poking my head in - I'm retiring a heavily modified Audi TT and taking a giant leap into p-car'dom.

Couple questions:
+ after a few hours of driving engaging the reverse gear produced significant vibration / shaking until fully engaged. I'm familiar with the feel of a race clutch (I have a Stage 2 Spec clutch in the TT), but this felt odd to me. Normal / hosed flywheel / trans mount?
+ the 6-speed shift insert/cap is worn and looks crappy. Anyone know where i can get a replacement?
Thanks guys!
Andrew

Congrats, did you buy Juan Poro's car ?.
You have the replace the entire stick shift, little cap is not sold by itself. At least, that's what they told me when they replaced mine under warranty. Maybe you'll get lucky with one of the Porsche junk yards, it is not a GT3 specific cap.

The vibration (and wear) are both abnormal. You'd want to go back to the CPO inspection and service history to look for clues. I assume you mean the gearbox will cleanly select reverse gear, but the clutch is causing the vibration or shuddering as you engage the clutch to move the car backward. This sounds like wear and perhaps oil from an RMS leak (they all leak, no big deal, just a bit of expense and inconvenience if the clutch plate is now contaminated. Nothing should be worn, let alone worn out at 15K miles. Did you know the first owner well? Perhaps they can shed some light.

Great choice. Welcome.

from new guy to new guy, congrats. i've been asking some questions about the car myself. here's what i've learned are "normal" sounds:
-brake squeak esp if you have steels (i do) on turns, slow stops, perhaps even when just moving straight ahead in stop and go (i dig it)
-machine gun clatter on start up (i noticed it once)
-puff of white smoke on start up (check)
incredible ride. I "get it" now.

Sorry, that's a website for some great looking carbon parts:
Not sure if I can post a link (forum rules). Just google MAcarbon.
Good luck and congrats on the great looking ride!
