Funny thing, no C6R or C5R has leaf springs. If the race cars all went to coil springs a decade ago, why haven't the street cars? Porsche ditched torsion bars back in 1989. Keep also in mind also then the engine in the C6R has nothing in common with the street LS engines other than basic design. The block, heads, crank, rods, pistons, oil and cooling systems are all unique to the race cars, hence why the race cars do not have the rod and main bearing failures from track driving that is common with the street cars.

That was true until recently, when track quality one-piece pads became available for the C6 Z06 calipers. The stock multi pad arrangement was crap. From what I hear the stock calipers and decent pads are fine for DEs. That said, I do have StopTechs on mine.

Yes. Street Z06 has a different block with different oil paths and a different pan. You can order most of the C6R (actually C5R) engine parts from the GM performance parts catalog. You will notice that all the C6R components also carry a 50%+ higher price than the street Z06 LS7 parts.
The PBR calipers on the regular Corvettes or the junk they put on Z06s? The PBRs can hold up for light DE use just fine with better fluid and pads. It is the GM manufactured calipers on the Z06 that are junk. I was out at MSR at a track day about 2 years ago that we had a novice driver come out in a new Z06. In his second session he had an off. When he came in, he said he had no brakes. We pulled one of his front wheels and took a look at his brakes. There was black material coating the back of his pads. After looking further and discovered the coating was actually the seals from the calipers that melted onto the pads. The last I saw of the car was getting loaded on a flat bed. I don't know where on not they were covered under warranty. His did not even last 2 sessions, much more a whole day. I was thinking about commenting about this earlier, but GM already came up with a fix. You can now get a Z06 with the Z07 suspension/brake package that has the ZR1s magnetic ride shocks and Brembo brakes.

I have driven many ZR1s on the track and more Z06s than most and the Z06 is the better track car hands down. The ZR1 is nose heavy and it this shows when under braking and rotating out of a turn. The car has lots of power but the Z06 is able to put power down better when exiting a turn. By the way, I wish I had a GT2 RS. The car is a work of art.

Here is a new 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition. It has the following options (see below). They are offering it for $11K off MSRP, and I am sure you can get it for $85K. Very tempting...
