Awesome photos, awesome car and setup, awesome hill climb, another awesome drive by Jeff...
Shame that they've been reducing the gravel sections... Pretty much makes the times mean nothing now as we can no longer compare apples with apples... Next year its expected to be all tarmac... Unique event- should have been left alone IMO...

Next year with all tarmac they can run full slicks, so times will really tumble. Might as well run an F1 car up there, as it's no longer about 4wd and wings.

I agree that Zwart's run was a great one and he should be proud of it. I only argue that a fake, race-prepped Hyundai (or any other non-stock car) should not be allowed in the same class.

I agree, I always wanted to go there for the race, but never got around to it, so will never see it with the gravel.

Would you drive your low sports car at speed on loose gravel?

There hasn't been enough commercial interest in this race to have more classes or narrow the existing ones.

that Hyundai is not a street legal car or a car that they bought off the showroom floor. Trailered tub frame...
Jeff accomplished this event in a car with A/C , NAVI, CD, cup holders and Full Factory Warranty.
sweet.

Legendary Porsche shoe Jeff Zwart took a 911 GT2 RS up the mountain in 11:07.869, setting a new record for street legal cars. Zwart’s time was 6 seconds behind Rod Millen’s Hyundai Genesis Coupe race car, which took the overall win in 2WD Time Attack. Zwart noted that “we fell seconds short of beating an all-out race car that is hundreds of pounds lighter with no street safety or emission equipment,” and felt confident that the record would stand for years to come.

I'm interested in knowing more about that single axle trailer. Surely the 911 gets loaded engine-forward otherwise it must tow with a pretty stiff anti-sway control. And a single axle and tires would call for something like a 7500lb axle and spring assembly. Still, I'm curious about having a fully equipped race car in the most compact, viable trailer (towed behind something like a Benz/Dodge Drifter as a camper.)
