Seriously. Normally a cool-headed driver but what on earth was he thinking driving that aggressively barely an hour into a 24 hour race. He already passed the pug for chrissake.

one of those cameramen didn't even hear the crash. he was walking the other way totally oblivious and almost got his cap peeled back by that tyre.
mc nish made a dumb mistake there - he thought he would thread the needle early and gain advantage when others would have been delayed in upcoming curves. big risk he didn't need to take.

The start of the race was fantastic and Allan McNish seemed to be doing great. Then came that move...and the accident. Our group was sitting near the Tribune Grandstands at one called La Sarthe. It is in front of the curves before the pit straight. So we also saw the accident on the large screen in the JumboTron before us...and on the radio (we have Le Mans Radio on channel 91.2 with 'live' British expert).
We arrived today around 10 AM (Saturday) so we had a pretty full day at the track. Our group met at 8 PM at our bus and returned to our hotel. At this time of the year, it gets dark here after 10 PM, so we never got to see the incredible night racing. We are watching the race now on TV and will return to the track at 9:30 AM tomorrow to watch the balance of the race!
We also became members of the ACO (Automobile Club de L'Ouest) so we could access their hospitality areas. The one we used was just past the Dunlop bridge, which is just around the area of McNish's accident.
Now we have just heard about Rockenfeller's crash, which has eliminated Audi #1- so it's not looking good for them and we are on full course yellow. However, they still have car #2 (Treluyer, Fassler & Lotterer) which was the fastest qualifier & on the pole. So there is still hope for Audi as they are currently leading the race! z356 (currently in France)

I hope the Corvette guys, that hang around some parts of Rennlist forums, don't take it personally, but at the moment I don't like Corvette drivers very much. A not too long ago #74 Compuware Corvette took out #63 Felbermayr Porsche when, (from what I've seen) going too hot into a corner on the inside of the Porsche, the GTE PRO leader Corvette fishtailed, then hit Porsche's driver rear at about 40 degrees. Both cars are not able to compete. Sucks for everyone, I suppose.
On a positive note, Flying Lizards #80 with Patric Long at the helm is in P3 and #81, currently occupied by Spencer Pumpelli, is in P2.
